Right or Wrong - Is there a difference?

Day 1,686, 20:37 Published in Canada Canada by Vrykolaus Drauvik
My emergence as an eCanadian citizen was a most memorable occasion. Armed with the standard 9mm Browning sidearm, I found myself aiding Canadian allies against enemy occupation. Fumbling through a list of missions and completing daily orders, I was beginning to feel I was making a contribution to this great nation.

Along my travels I had the privilege of introducing myself to Nicolas Boyce and Christan Doe. Asking questions and receiving quick, useful replies I found out not to waste my gold on health packs. What can I say? I like to shoot things and watch them die. I was informed there were more productive ways to spend my gold. Of course, they were right.

I also received supplies that were instrumental to my development. Around this time I was also asked about what political affiliation I was pondering. My knowledge of politics here was next to nothing. Christian Doe explained his parties political platform, demonstrating what the EPIC Party had to offer. I thanked him and was on my way. After reading a few other parties newspaper articles I decided to become a permanent member of the EPIC Party.

During my short stay here, I had read newspapers and posts slandering EPIC for handing out new players 'gifts' in exchange for votes or becoming party members. I cannot prove that this was never the case, that my gift was just a kind gesture. What I do know is that I was never pressured after receiving such a gift to join the party. I made that decision based on my own free will. Under no circumstance did I ever feel that the funds I received was nothing other then me benefiting.

Every political party plots and schemes to achieve their ultimate goal. To get as many votes as possible. This is just the way of the world. I believe any party that denies this, is one of two things; a liar or very unsuccessful.

If you look at both sides of the spectrum in the current political climate that has engulfed eCanada over the last month, you have this. You have one party that has been accused of a PTO (The Rolo Talahasee incident). On the other hand, you have a party accusing another party of buying the votes of new players in order to bolster the size of their party.

I personally do not find fault in either of these, and I will explain why.

A PTO offers fantastic, immediate benefits. Any short-term goals can be accomplished fairly easily within a voting period. There are some that view this as a distasteful act. Even distasteful for politics. I personally believe this may be more harmful then helpful down the road. Once you have lost the trust of someone, it may take a long time to rekindle their trusting nature.

Offering new players incentives is a genius way to sustain a growing party. New blood is always circulating within, sparking new and fresh ideas. The party becomes a melding pot of not one thing particular, but a party of many ideas. A strong leader can use these tools to craft and design the masterpiece he desires.

Both parties have chosen the tactics they believe is best for their respective parties. Both of these parties tactics I find are equally impressive, depending on what their party's goals are.

All is fair in the arena of politics. Just be careful of slopsuckers and wolves in sheep clothing. When these are exposed, end their life as quickly as possible. Burn their remains, so nothing is left of their memory.
