Results of my survey “eRepublik V2 – what do you think about it?”
Iseutz
100 players from several eCountries filled out my form – thanks a lot!
🙂
Of course this is not a professional survey, actually this is the first time ever I created one, and the resulting data is not representative, but at least I hope it gives a view on trends in the community.

What do you like / don’t like about it?
Let’s start with something positive: The game becomes more interesting. 6 players mentioned the good economy module, 2 liked the war module and 3 said they like the new time managing system. As you can see on the chart above, 25% of respondents have a generally positive view on V2.
“I like that it gives you more options for what to do while online and it's more interactive. However, I think that it has possibly become overcomplicated.” – a player from eIreland
“Stop fucking complaining, its just beta ;P” – an ePolish player
“It's nice to manage how much time you invest for training etc.” – an eGerman respondent
“War module sucks! Everything else is good” – a citizen of eSerbia
On the other side, 28 people pointed out that V2 forces its players to spend much more gold than before. 19 complained about the new war module, 14 said eRepublik V2 will be too time consuming. 6 thought it’s just too complicated and complex and 10 said they don’t like anything about it.
“New war module is ridiculous. And spending tons of gold everyday is bad idea. I mean BAD.” – a respondent from ePoland
“I don't like that I have to spend more RL money to stay in the "elite"” – an eHungarian player
“Is a FUCKING SHIT, and you know it” – an eSpanish citizen
“Erep will no longer be a game where you can spend 15 mins a day... Military organization will be a nightmare.... I just don't see how people can have a real life and play the new version effectively.” – a player from eAustralia
“I hate everything!” – an ePortuguese participant
“gold , gold , gold & gold... It is not free online game!” – a citizen of eIran
“complexity is good. it opens more opportunities and variants. it is interesting. but complexity is nothing when you can just come and buy everything for GOLD” – a player from eUkraine
> И лајк евритинг ин дет гејм бут и дон`т лике бустерс анд спендинг голдс. Евритинг ис мејд фор голдс анд ју нид то би рич то плеј < - an anonymous Serbian (What, you can’t read it? Believe me, it’s proper English!
😁)
“fuck fuck fuck” – famous quote of an unknown eHungarian
“Social, Political: NO CHANGES AT ALL, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT” – a participant from eUSA
(for statistics: 72 of 100 people answered this question)
What about the hardware requirements? Is that a problem for you?
Another aspect of V2 is the minimum hardware requirements. In V1 you didn’t have to worry about your old PC or your bad internet connection, but with V2 eRepublik will become unplayable for some of the current players.
“Minimum requirements
Netbook with 1.6GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, latest Flash version.
Recommended requirements
PC/Mac with 2.4GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia/ATI graphics, latest Flash version.”
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/6483/erep02changesv2.jpg">
link
So, most players meet these requirements, but there are also many players who will probably have to quit, especially players from countries where people cannot afford to buy better hardware. Will some eCountries depopulate in V2 only because players’ PCs are too old? If the figures above are exemplary for the whole community, V2 will cause a drastical change of the eWorld’s map.
“My hardware requirements is ok BUT NOT WITH MY INTERNET CONNECTION ! Most of Indonesian will have a problem in this one.” – an eIndonesian citizen
“Buying a new PC is an option as well of course but I don't think a browsergame will affect my decision.” – a player from eGermany
What effect will V2 have on your playing habits?
This chart primarily shows two interesting facts:
First: No one, not even one of 100 respondents, is willing to buy gold regularly or at least from time to time. 39% even excluded buying gold at all.
Secon
😛Also 39% already decided to quit when eRepublik will change to V2 like it’s been intended.

(Here you could choose multiple answers. The second option is "I will buy gold regularly or from time to time", the fourth and fifth option refer to how much time you will spend on eRepublik.)
So that's it?
I’ve got a notion that admins haven’t thought about consequences like those I see “rising” up when I try to get a glimpse of eRepublik’s future. They should’ve listened better to their player’s opinions – sure they can't follow them in all points, but at least they should reflect on differentiated critique and give space to ideas and suggestions.
“Increase gold rewards and lower the costs of gold-pay services, or you will lose too many players” – an eSerbian player
“I understand that you need money, but in V2 buying gold seems to be almost obliged if you really wants to involve in the game, and so there will be only a few new players, and old players will quit. I think it's more intelligent to allow people to really involve in the game without paying and then propose paying services that people would want to buy because they are really involved in the games. For example, now I'm wondering if I won't buy extra storage, but I know that if I had to pay at the beginning, I wouldn't have stayed on the game.” – a participant from eFrance
“The politics-module should be more sophisticated and have more different possibilities. Instead of concentrating on the military module and creating new ways of how to spend more gold, the admins could use the full potential this game concept has to offer.” – an eGerman citizen
“Its just bad that we waited for 6 month for v2 and hoped for improvements, but all we got is sucky war module and more unbalanced gameplay.” – a player from eSerbia
“V1 was just about fine. V2 is too many steps ahead and a totally different game!!” – an eCzech respondent
“all of you should better play IceWars!” – an anonymous ePolish and RL-German player

bestätigt mehr oder weniger meinen subjektiven eindruck
round-based war module: whoever designed that should be drawn, quartered, sliced with a cheese grater, fed to alligators and burned alive. All at once.
Dozens of seconds loading time on my main computer (two years old with good connection), having(!) to spend more than just a few seconds in it iff you want toachieve anything (= having to spend the whole day effectively) just make it impossible to play.
Compared with the war module the rest is really decent. Compared with V1 the rest of V2 still sucks more than several dozen whores (which would probably cost less money...)
I really will miss (part of) the community but the second V2 is installed I will no longer play this game.

As i said ,take lots of resources of the laptop , but then again ,maybe is juts the trial .
good luck all .
I think everybody is overreacting a bit. I like the idea that there will be less people sitting in their RL-bureaus and 7-clicking their way to be a supersüpersüüüperrr-soldierrr. They will have to think before they "risk their health" - and that's good. Also the economic as well as the learning mode stress the non-military aspects of life in a good way, I think. All of this takes maybe 5 minutes more a day - if you need to fight,... well, wars do cost a lot of money and time, right? Nobody who feels comfortable about being such a well-set V1-player should bother about investing an hour or two in really trying out V2 oneself, learning how it works and then decide in which direction one wants to develop / how much time one wants to spend for what sort of career. I am looking forward to see who will remain and who will leave.
@J.K. Walker
For a 2 years old citizen like me... (or more)
Trust me
Just to keep clicking those "7-clicking" is a hard way
Good one mate 🙂
Because you took the sample from many people around the world
VCS from me 🙂
nice
we are walking towards the abyss
Good job and as an old player more than 2 years i'll probably quit on the V2 very soon. Too much gold spent, too much time needed on every module and particulary the war one. Just incredible for me such variation. It's not anymore the same game for me.
who made this thing!! why you dont ask me too.. i will choose: very very baddd

@Masila: Maybe they will lose lots of old players exactly by trying to involve them even more, yes. And I do think it is a pity, if people who spend lots of time evolving their character may quit because they would need to spend real money to keep their status. That sure may be the crux for the developers: that they have been too keen on technical development - and to greedy. On the other hand I am really excited to see in how far the game will change. We will see, but the question may be: How long will we do that.
+1 Mavie.
Hail eRepublik V1.
I'll stop in V2 I think ..

;_;
Well it just sux.
So the only graceful way out is for them to parallel it.
Just leave this version up, launch a new separate one, and monitor the response. Even if we allow them for the unlikely scenario of having the h/w resources and team resources to DO that, it would assume someone at eRep Labs actually gave a ****, and quite clearly, they don't.
Wouldn't like to be in THAT VC progress meeting, whoah no.
(perhaps as a fly on the wall 😉

SUPER NICE ARTICLE!!
voted from eIndonesia!
Now only rich countries would afford this.
Indonesia: very populated... now on V2 thousands of indonesians will quit
Serbia: as serbia is having some politic problems a lot of people will have to quit
Brazil and south america: uf... brazil, venezuela, bolivia... al those countrys will ''die''
Asia: Liaoning, beijing... and more... all those countries... will die
there are just 95% in the hardware requirements. what happened to the other 5%?
the other 5% simply didn't answer this question.😁
interesting
true .... true!
complaining that you are too stupid to play a bit more complexed game sounds funny
V2 SUCKS....
