Restoring Clan Wolf
wingfield
A call to the true members of the party.
I am standing for party president of the party formerly known as Clan Wolf. My platform is simple – restoration of our party as our party and not the plaything or minion of other parties and individuals in eCanada.
I have been a party president in four countries since 2009 – the eUS, eSouth Africa, eAustralia and even the eUK. I have also been an MU commander ever since those were introduced in early 2011. Leadership and consultation in that role are something with which I am quite familiar.
My program
1. The party name “Clan Wolf” will be restored, along with the logo in use before November 2013. The name will only be changed thereafter following in-game polling.
2. The party will resume its independent stance, bowing neither to powerful individuals nor their puppet organizations such as the forums.
3. All decisions and communication will be in-game, with no authority vested in forums or IRC chat rooms.
4. No primaries of any sort will be held, although the PP will consult widely.
5. The party will select who it wishes for Congress candidature, regardless of any purported direction from other members of Congress.
6. Only Clan Wolf members will be selected for Congress candidature. Outsiders and party hoppers will not be welcome. Two weeks continuous party membership will be a non-negotiable requirement for endorsement.
7. Anyone involved or benefiting from the PTO of our party in November will be barred from Congress endorsement until January 25th 2014, at the earliest.
8. While the PP will not be barred from Congress, leadership must be by example. The PP, if running, must therefore be placed at least two places lower on the party ticket than the number of candidates from the party elected to Congress in the previous month.
Genuine independence
The party will make its own decisions and select its own candidates. It will not be subject to control or direction by any external party or group. The party comes first, in conjunction with our active participation in supporting eCanada.
“Primaries”
I do not support, or accept the results of, "primary polls". They are undemocratic and unrepresentative. I am a serious candidate for party president and will not be withdrawing from the race. The worst possible way to fight a PTO of the party is to impose an internal one in response.
The current PTO and party environment
We just have to wear the present unpleasant situation with our party name and shout feed. If particular individuals wish to behave like schoolyard brats, we must not get downhearted or drawn into negative troll-fests. Every PP faces an impeachment vote on the 15th day of the month and that is your chance to clear the air.
The future
Building a loyal core of members dedicated to our own party will eventually, if not this month, restore our freedom of association in a party of our own preference. The principle is to work hard for independence and not give in after setbacks such as we have experienced. When we have our party back we can move forward and reshape ourselves in a manner governed by genuine consensus among our membership.
Vote wingfield for PP on December 15th!

Clan Wolf will be back!
How would you possibly serve Can if you keep switching countries.
^Shut up Zianni, get back in your box.
Good luck!
This Clan Wolf seems interesting... Is it as good as Rob Ford's Party House? I hear that party's the jam.
dont even try. we have poutine in PFC.
Ben, il faut pas comparer au PFC, tomturc, c'est injuste. Ils ne peuvent même pas comparer à notre gloire 😉
wingfield I would like to further delve into you not liking primaries for parties. In which way is a primary undemocratic and/or unrepresentative?
The vote is not in-game, and it is not free or verifiable. The participation rate is always miniscule and much lower than the in-game vote. It is a tool for those who dominate the political module against the ordinary player. Finally, it is an American invention that is abused there, as well as in eRep.
the vote is sent via ingame pm to every member of the party. participation rate is minimal compared to the whole party because of the amount of two clickers that allow PTO's to occur.
Clan Wolf does not call people who do their own thing "two-clickers" or other derisive names. Clan Wolf does not disenfranchise or treat these players with contempt, as some other parties and prominent figures in the country like to.
The ballot only has three questions after they type and link their name. I think it's created as simple as it can. We're also not charging gold or cad 😛 To your last point, I will publishing the responses (with link) to the full results after they are locked -- on the feed and in PM. I'll also remind people on the feed to check their inbox to vote. Heck if they wish, they can post their vote on the feed and I'll add their info.
Tools are only effective as those who wield them. If you aren't willing to trust us, your Clan members, I don't know what else to say. I'm trying to use every precaution and safeguard necessary; this isn't being taken lightly.
Even that does not give primaries any respectability. I offer a different way, without the risks that primaries involve.
How do you plan to stop a PTO?
Micevhel - I am not calling you a power broker of CW - but the others outside the party know who I am talking about, as do their counterparts in other countries.
What about IPC?
They are more than welcome to be part of Clan Wolf
Ouch.....
"2. The party will resume its independent stance, bowing neither to powerful individuals nor their puppet organizations such as the forums.
3. All decisions and communication will be in-game, with no authority vested in forums or IRC chat rooms."
Does that mean all CW members would be banned from participating in any forum activity?
No one will be banned from using the forums but no one will be REQUIRED to use them and party decisions will not be made in such an environment.
I agree on this point wingfield.
Doing so would inherently weaken Clan Wolf by voluntarily stripping yourselves of the power to do Congress business where all the business is actually done. The in game Congress mechanics are actually quite weak.
We will not be concerned with the forum role playing games. Neither will we take any notice of their pronouncements and purported rules. The party in consultation will decide what its Congress members will do and what laws they will propose.
The game is not weak and neither are its mechanics. All it requires is a bit of effort.
I might add that a bloc of CW members in Congress will hold what other members of Congress might need from time to time, namely votes and the balance of power. It would not do to treat CW Congress members with disrespect at other times.
You're more than welcome to treat the forum as a place of role-playing, and completely ignore it. Frankly, the other parties won't much care if you do, you just won't be a part of any of the in-depth discussions or proposals or votes, and most of your party's proposals will be treated as rogue proposals, thus somewhat making you a rogue party.
... But go ahead and be super useful by avoiding all the forum stuff.
Joshur, it is attitudes such as yours that make all decent people want to avoid the forums, Typical response, calling people who don't wish to be bullied rogues. The bullies are the rogues if you ask me. My platform is independence for my party and democratic freedom for its members. You, yet another person from outside the party, just proved why we need our own space and to do our own thing.
Don't count on any CW votes for anything you might ever want to get passed.
That last bit is very fitting as a slogan for Clan Wolf. "Don't count on any CW votes for anything".
Frankly, I wasn't being a troll or anything there, I'm being realistic. That's how things go in eCanada. If you want to be an active member who participates in everything, take advantage of all the resources we have to offer. I don't think people are likely to change everything because you didn't like things for the short time you spend here before leaving to another country again.
No one is bullying Clan Wolf on the forums, that just isn't happening. And the other parties might need CW votes? Not if you aren't participating in the forums. All changes to in game taxes or proposals are being made in the forums first until something is passed in game. Any CW votes on the in game portion would be made after the fact and not be important. That is what I'm trying to say, if you want to utilize the political capital of Clan Wolf and have a say in Congress, it is necessary to have a forum presence.
V&S for at least trying to make it better in your eyes. I don't agree with everything you wrote but stating your position and showing your conviction goes a long way with me.
I wish you well and success.
Sounds like you've been reading the dusty old CW Charter which I cobbled together a million years ago. Good luck to you. Shaking up the CW braintrust is the party's only hope.
Ahh, classic CW strategy. Appeal to the 2-clicking masses. Tyrael would be proud.
Primaries are undemocratic? How? Everyone gets the opportunity to vote, some people simply don't use that power, and in that case then it is their own fault.
Primaries are not in-game and therefore not part of eRepublik
Not necessarily, if you wanted to you could conduct primaries in the game apparatus entirely. What would you suggest the replacement to be? Only executive decisions? That is undemocratic as well.
Not a legitimate part of eRepublik. Executive decisions for PP candidacy? Surely not. That is why Plato has in-game elections.
The insidious "primary" mentality has seeped into all areas of eRepublik over the past 4 to 5 years as powerful elements realized that they could use that system to cement their hold on power and disenfranchise all those with no taste for complicated role-playing nonsense.
It is interesting that this aspect of my platform has attracted the most comment, and much of that from outside of the party. The element of my policy that most frightens the power-brokers gets the biggest reaction. Hardly surprising, I suppose.
I would hardly call myself a power-broker of CW but I am flattered. I am curious on your plans to stop another PTO attempt though.
The reason why people add extra elements is that the game, as it stands, is quite shit. The community i.e. extra stuff that isn't actually in the game, is what keeps most people playing long term.
If the game is so bad, why do people keep playing?
For the awesome people in the game. eRepublik is a hollow shell where the life of the game is from the life of the people playing it.
The only way to stop a PTO is for Plato to implement what I have told him long ago - a qualifying period before one can vote or run in a party and to vote for or run in Congress and CP elections. Until then, only defensive numbers works - and stripping members of democratic rights certainly does not.
By your reasoning there is no such thing as a PTO. Under game rules anyone has the right to run for PP and everyone has the right to join whatever party they want and vote for whoever they want to.
Sounds like a reasonable thing to me. But when people presume to tell fellow party members whether they can or cannot run for PP, it sounds like an internal PTO. Juast have qulaifying periods and the party and country hoppers won't have the same ease of access.
Pat4PP
I know U as good and honest player so the party can be just better with U on that place.
Good Luck!
