Relax Hispalis, Apparently you dont have much experience in the game so let me explain...
PTO or political taceover is one of the major threats in the erepublik...PTO means that a hostile force takes political control through elections and starts unfolding a plan for the economical destruction of the country. Hyper-inflation, giving away regions, catastrophic taxes and minimum wage etc, etc..
So PTOs can only be done by people with citizenship, therefore citizenship is a very important thing and both individual applications and the general citizenship strategy are things that have to be planned and examined carefully...

Sure, i know what it is... And i also know that although you are inviting us to come to Greece to pay taxes here, work here and defend this country.

As you should know if you have the experience in the game... Citizenship can only be conceeded to 10% of population. So you can't ever suffer a take over due to conceding citizenship...

If this is gonna be the Greek policy... We probably have to look for another place who really want us there.

Just be being so inpatient you create suspision...
and be being so unwilling to understand the importance of Greece at the present time and why it has to be safeguarded at any possible way, shows that you dont care about Greece...

Hispalis, maybe you should post under a citizen and not an organization. You are making an issue out of something that hardly needs to be one. There are valid security concerns, if you can't understand that then you as an individual are welcome to leave. I don't know who this "we" is that you're speaking of.

I work a lot with immigrants and I have to tell you Hispalis I nevere, ever had this response.
This is the most normal pratice any country would do.

Mighty Zontar here, ex-eCanadian and now proud eGreek FULLY AGREES with eGreece's citizenship policy. I'm only 28 eRep days old here, but I've already experienced eHungarians (whom I call 'eHuns') forming a party there. We smoked them out after a while, but they did annoy eCanada for a while.

That being said, I myself had to wait several anxious days before my bona fides convinced the Government of eGreece to grant me a new life. And it did the right thing ... eGreece is surrounded by enemies, and I admire its Government's rigour and ability, both of which were sadly lacking in eCanada's.

All that to say ... be patient, for the sake of The eNation's Greater Good. Or if you're a crypto-PEACEr, go back to your mudhole and practice your social graces. In the latter case, you'll learn to understand and behave like the RESPONSIBLE citizens who are doing such a great job here. Also, while you think this all over, you'll be sure to find a sympathetic eHun who'll comfort as he'll press you to his ice-cold breast.

You have to understand that eGreece was under occupation for more than a year game's time, until a couple of days ago. We are still under threat, and we are still at war. We do not afford the luxury of open borders. You have to be patient regarding citizenship. That's it, sorry if you don't like it, nothing can be done about it, for at least a couple of weeks.

Natasha, Myronas ... esteemed colleagues, there's reason to doubt Hispalis' motives and sincerity.

As stated above, the President of eGreece will discuss immigration and citizenship with the party presidents, and then they will instruct congressmen to follow the policy will they decide. I am certain that everyone who has a valid reason to request citizenship will have a fair chance, but there is no point in rushing to give away this 10%. I cannot say more, because it's neither my place, not my responsibility. I only ask you to be patient. For all I know, everyone's application might as well be accepted in due time.

I completely agree, and I believe that anybody who wants citizenship should respect their beliefs as well. They were doing just fine before we came and they can continue to do great after we arrive 🙂

I respect your decision, but one of the reasons I left the eUS was to leave the political issues in the country. As a former Congressman of Virginia and a US Marine, I chose to take my own path by leaving for better opportunities elsewhere. I was, in fact, someone who participated in the liberation of eGreece.

As a solution, rather than to not allow any immigrants to become citizens, why doesn't the government create an immigration committee to investigate each of the applicants?

I think people posting on organizations should stop posting as organizations and submit their complaints as citizens, a request that was ignored once already.

I will agree with Hispalis. Tossing out accusations of being PEACE members just leads to USA levels of paranoia and we've seen how well that's worked for them. Besides, everyone knows I'm a PEACE member anyway and no one really cares.

No one denies citizenships, they will be processed in due time. Please be patient.

Statement from a non-Greek, eGreek congressman! i.e me!

eHungary and eIndo (our de facto evil overlords) have PTO'd over 20 countries in the last 4 months. We, as eGreeks, have suffered a lot at the hand of invaders and PTO'ers. That is why we are cautious (not suspicious). All citizenship applications will be considered fully and fairly after the congressional elections. Please be patient. After nearly a year and a half under foreign occupation, we have learnt some stuff. We do it to stop all of us, eCanucks, eYanks, eGreeks even the bloody eBrits (myself included) safe from PEACE PTO attempts. Please bear with us, we have a lot of experience fighting as the underdog and know how to turn it around in the long term.

And it is generally considered good manners to post under your citizen profile, not an org. Only propagandists and spies (like me hehe) us orgs to post on comment threads.

PS just to clarify, I am an anti-PEACE propagandist and spy so don't jump on my back please

Voted. If anyone is desperate to participate in Greek politics, they should be patient to stick around 2-6 weeks to be able to do so at the very minimum. It's the least a person can do to show that they care about the future of Greece. Those who will not, were not sincere in their (presumed) wish to be a Greek in the first place, I would have to venture. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being on a "work Visa," "political refugee," or even "citizen applicant" status. It's a concept that works in the real world and the New World. In any case, the admins imposed an in-game cap on immigration, and between that and the fact that not all elected congress members are active, it is simply impossible to approve them non-selectively. Those who are here longer will have higher chances of becoming citizens, if only because they will be able to ask multiple congresses.

- Until there is something set up it is reasonable not to allow any more citizenships to be accepted. Until then it does not hinder you from doing everything else. I'm sure you're not upset at the higher wages and higher profits that you are making here? Citizenship has nothing to do with them.

It is sad, that we need to wait, but anyone should understand this decision. (Yes, we lost 2 opportunities to vote but after that, we will have many others.)

I am quite disappointed to lose out on the xp you get for casting a vote, but I understand this decision, and as a former Congressman of Mexico, I understand the need to protect a country from PTOs.

I would suggest, however, that a smarter decision might be to selectively approve some applications even before, if there are concerns about PTOs - selecting specifically for people who are not from the PTO-suspect countries, and/or are "known" friends of Greece.

Then again, maybe voting isn't all that important - Americans voted for their own current Vichy government, after all...
