Re-creation

Somewhere in my travels, I struck up a friendship with one of the nicest birds in the New World, MaryamQ, who today completes her first term as President of e-Belgium. MaryamQ asked me if I would share her aptly and cleverly named poem, "Re-creation".

I'm very happy to, especially so here in New Zealand on our first Presidential election day. A lot of Kiwis are looking for a new approach to the game and I think MaryamQ's verse captures that feeling quite well.

Re-creation


Creation has been called on to create
A New World, by their powers bring to pass
Utopian dreams, long held, now consummate,
Or hell reflected in a shattered glass.

If history's recycled, who's to blame
That we keep choosing what we've always known?

Though some may argue that all life's a game,
Unvaried strategies show no one's grown.

But let's suppose the players could be drawn
To try an unknown path to paradise.

Might each one then be neither king nor pawn
When we re-view the world through other eyes?

So through the looking glass now let us go
To find a true new order. Make it so!
