Rampant bugs cripple the war for England – Australia saved from PTO once again.

Day 952, 15:02 Published in USA USA by Sossu

The land bridge meant to transport Poland to American resource regions is still jammed to British Isles. The broken war module has equally hampered both alliances’ efforts to overrule the other and cease control of the bottleneck regions located in United Kingdom and Ireland. After the non-existent retreat buttons were returned, a bug from the past of eRepublik has come back to haunt Eden and Phoenix. It is a widely used tactic to start a RW in a region the occupant doesn’t originally control, and attack it directly afterwards. This bounds the defendant to a 24 hour block, because they can’t retreat from the region.

But currently the eRepublik servers somehow mix the results of the RW and the direct attack following directly afterwards. In several occasions, both in Connecticut and Newfoundland & Labrador, the Allied forces have won the RW, but the region has still remained in the hands of the occupier. The server counts the RW to be secured, and the defender and the offender somehow switch sides straight after that. This causes the defender, switched to be the offender, to win the battle, secure the region and get the initiative.

Canada attacked British-held Newfoundland & Labrador after a RW was started there, and both attacks succeeded. When the RW was falsely marked as secured, the server thought that UK was the attacker and NFL&L was a Canadian-held region. Therefore UK won the battle, technically “occupied” the region they already possessed and got a 24h initiative over Canada. Sounds irrational and retarded? Welcome to eRepublik!

Poland lost the initiative against UK by a mistake, though claims have been heard that the Polish president was ready to launch a new attack on UK territories, but he was DDoS:ed and was unable to. Therefore UK launched attacks on Scotland and other Polish-occupied territories, and things looked grim for Poland. The situation forced Sweden to directly join the war and back up the Polish effort, narrowly missing the chance to take Scotland from Poland before UK attacked it. In fact, the British president beat his Swedish counterpart by one minute. Today on Day 952, Poland retreated from Scotland, exposing it to an attack coming from Sweden, who activated the full UK MPP set by doing that. UK retreated the region to Sweden, who then launched an additional attack on Newfoundland and Labrador, taking UK out from the picture for a while as they are now blocked. Poland is now trying to avoid confrontation with UK, and they invaded the sole Irish region that doesn’t border British territories, Cork & Kerry. This allows Poland to chill behind Ireland until the coast is clear as Ireland have MPP😒 strong enough to keep UK from advancing.

UK however is about to invade Connecticut, a region they illicitly got a chance to attack due to the said bugs, and which borders the Polish safehouse of Cork & Kerry. However with Sweden in the frame, UK seems to face overwhelming blocks carried out by Canada, Sweden, Poland and Ireland. Connecticut will probably fall in a RW sooner or later, allowing Eden to take a deep breath and continue the swapping plan which was easy to execute in paper but is slowly unveiling to be an expensive and long misery constantly affected by the fundamentally flawed war module.

In order for the land bridge to succeed, the following conditions must be met:

1. UK constantly blocked.
2. Poland and Ireland free from blocks.
3. No U.S regions in the hands of enemies.
4. Poland preferably not bordering UK to avoid a block from Netherlands.

Once these conditions are fulfilled, the swappings should be able to continue.

Sweden took a big risk by launching more MPP😒 against them. Until now, Poland and Norway have safeguarded the regions bordering Germany, another nation Sweden has opened MPP😒 against. Regions held by Poland would be an easy prey for UK from now on, and Norwegian regions could be taken by RW😒. The original plan of swapping Sweden inside USA as well could now prove to be too hard to take through, and the activated MPP😒 pose a direct and serious threat to Sweden.

The British Isles, split between 5 nations.

Phoenix expels and destroys Latvia.

Last month, Latvia attacked their fellow Phoenix member Estonia due to various reasons. The population of Latvia complained about boredom while the relationship between the two countries was strained. Latvia confronted Estonia that they denied to swap Latvia through to attack Finland on several occasions, effectively cutting down Latvia’s only possibility to be engaged in a real war to boost activity. Estonia blamed Latvia from stealing currency during the previous swaps, and finally the argument escalated to a regional civil war inside Phoenix. This caused them a lot of headache and Phoenix HQ gave Latvia a financial penalty, which Latvia refused to contribute. At one point it looked like Latvia was in the clear, as the election of the Supreme Commander of Phoenix raised a Latvian in to the lead of the entire alliance. He however quickly resigned from his post and the current leadership of Phoenix gave Latvia an ultimatum, which Latvia turned down immediately.

Phoenix was left with no choice but to expel the rebellious Latvia. This is the first time when a full member has been expelled from any alliance, as Germany at the time was officially only a trial member of ATLANTIS when Sweden invaded them. The big players of Phoenix refrained from signing MPP😒 with Latvia and yesterday the bordering nations, Lithuania and Estonia attacked Latvia and their relatively weak MPP😒, using the same wars that were earlier opened for tactical purposes.

The leaders of Latvia acknowledged the threat and proceeded to sign a MPP with Poland, but as Latvia doesn’t have any inner regions, Lithuania and Estonia were able to carry out attacks against all Latvian regions before the vote went through. Latvia tried to concentrate their defences around the economically important Zemgale and Vidzeme, but in the end Phoenix sent mobile forces to destroy the traitorous ex-member and all regions were captured.

Eden is expected to carry out a liberation operation in cooperation with the Latvians and thus getting a new friend out of necessity. Latvia will probably not join Eden as they have waged war on Finland and bailed Lithuania from a Polish invasion before their babyboom. Instead they could join the group of nations Eden patrons while not being a full member. Phoenix support is dwindling fast in Europe as Italy was another nation in this month to switch sides as they made a pact with Spain to get an oil region, effectively cutting their Phoenix ties.

Latvia, occupied by her northern and southern neighbors.

Admins reinvestigate Australian elections, reverse the unfair result.

Indonesians have determinately tried to PTO Australia for many months now, and just as they thought their victory was complete, Admin took the case in to reinvestigation and removed nearly third of the Indonesian congressmen from their office after it was found out they used excessive multiaccounting to rise in to power. At first Indonesia got a supermajority of over 70%, being capable of impeaching the Australian president and vote through any kind of legislature they wanted. Situation looked desperate for Australia as the 6 hour confirmation period after the elections didn’t make any difference.
3 days afterwards, just as Indonesian representatives were proposing an impeachment, the administration team responded and removed over dozen congressmen, giving Australia a majority of just one congressman. Australia is saved for one more month, but their existence hangs within a thread as they have a voting majority of just two votes when the presidential vote is counted. If any congressman resigns or forgets to vote, Indonesians could still cause severe damage to the nation. Fortunately for Australia, their congressmen are all fairly active citizens.

The Prime Minister of Australia, convinced he would lose his office within a matter of days, put the sword in to Indonesia’s hand by attacking them and offering a chance to look who’s strongest in the fields of war instead of voting polls. The next big challenge for Australia comes with the Presidential elections, where the Indonesian president, if elected, could ruin the nation in a matter of minutes by retreating Australian regions to Indonesia. Admins might reverse it if they find evidence of foul play like they did in Norway, but I would never, ever count anything on the good will of the Administration Team.
