Quitting

Day 990, 04:14 Published in South Africa South Africa by Krimpiekat

Lately I've begun to notice a trend.
The *IN* thing these days seems to be ragequitting. The more outlandish a quit, the better.

Why?

Is it some misguided sense to be remembered as a legend in some browser-based game that we all would probably have forgotten five years from now?

It seems most of the people quitting are from the "older" crop of players that's disgusted with V2 and how they are not at the top of the food chain anymore.

If you want to quit. Do quit, but try to do it with some dignity for gawd's sake. All this ragequitting starting to get old real fast.

It's funny how the real legends just don't quit like that. They just fade away.

Take Harlot's example. A simple message to the marines on the US milforum:

"Thank you
I have never needed nor deserved the public adoration directed to me. I have not done a "Public Farewell" as I have always considered such articles to be common attention-whoring and attempts to get people to beg you to stay. But I feel that I owe it to you, my Marines, to say a few things. So that you do not feel I have abandoned you. I am reminded that funerals are for the living. And there is comfort is saying farewell to good friends.

Thank you all for making this experience worthwhile. The greatest moments of my eRepublik life were spent here among the women and men that gave their every effort. Thank you for each of those moments and for sharing some small part of your time with me.

Have fun and be good to each other. Give 'em hell Marines

- H"

And that was that. No hysterics. No theatrics. That's how I would want to go as well some day.
