Day 288, 17:59 Published in USA USA by Vincent Garibaldi

Our armed forces is filled with low rank soldiers, I should know I'm one of them. That's not to say we don't have many extremely capable ones, but the fact is many soldiers have never seen a battle. This causes a few problems because:

1.Inexperienced soldiers are weaker in fights.
2.Some soldiers are completely unfamiliar with fighting.
3.There is a risk that a soldier may decide to fight on his own, or for another country simply in order to go to war. (I base this upon what I've read with respect to eUSA's policy on soldiers fighting without authorization. I doubt there would be rules against it if people didn't do it.)

I have, an admittedly almost completely unworkable solution to this: War Games!

There is a reason that they have these in real life, they're good for training soldiers and sharpening officers and tactics. Within our world these could also pose many benefits. They would be good test grounds for our organizational capabilities, and would allow soldiers to:

1.Increase in rank
2.Become familiar with the fight system
3.Get rid of those urges to fight

The increase in ranks of our soldiers would probably be the biggest advantage. If we could get our (I.e. eUSA and our ally's) privates into about 20 fights, assuming 50% win ratio, we could increase each of those soldiers fighting power to 120% of normal. On a side note, there seems to be a general consensus that wars are good for the economy (1984 anyone?).I haven't observed enough to comment yet I'm afraid, but it would allow for us to go to war without having to worry about the whole “war thing”, and accusations of being war mongers.

If you've made it this far and you think this is a great idea, allow me to explain why it won't work.

We would ideally want to stage war games with our allies for two main reasons.

1.We don't actually want to lose any territory
2.We don't want our enemies to become stronger now do we?

Well if close allies that just happen to border you are in plentiful supply, you still run into the problem of MPPs and NAPs. That makes it a little harder. Let's not forget the cost either, it would cost a whole lot of gold to stage these with any sort of regularity. I'm sure there are other reasons why this would not actually work too.

That said, I just wanted to throw this out there since it popped into my head for some reason. Feel free to bash away at this idea anyway. But you must admit it would be a lot of fun.
