Proposal to change taxes on weapons, why?
Kixtart
We probably all noticed Jacob van den Guldenweege proposed a tax change on Weapons.
This increases the import tax but decreases the VAT to 5%.
Here.
Why? Is this for personal gaining, or did he have a real reason?
We think that is wrong for a congressman to propose a tax change when he/she has a company which will have increased profits because of this change.
Are there any arguments to convince people that this indeed is something reasonable?
Without any research or proven information a tax change can have significant result on the treasury, something that isn't always good.
And why only Weapon industries? If weapons deserve it everything else does.
We hope you vote 'No'. Even if this can have good results it is too risky to just propose.
You should always discuss this kind of proposals before you even think about turning them in.
The Iron and Wine party.
Comments
Just to add to this. Iron and Wine is not against tax change in general, but would like to have a research on the impact of lowering taxes..
Coming with proposals without thinking of the possible consequences is not good.
Exactly, which is the reason we made this article 😛
just a personal opinion,
I think that jacob vandeguldenweege(congressman) as owner of a weaponcompany, shouldn't have proposed a tax change on weapons. This proposal will change the costs of his company and he will gain more profits.
Elections are coming... What will be the answer of Jacob van den Guldenweege's party ? Will we will see a motion of censure for switching public/personnal interest ? I already know the voting result, Jacob's friend against, Jacob's ennemy for, all the others neutrals... And a other non political decision !
@ThomasRed, i don't think it was a proposal of jacob's party.
It was just a personal proposal.
Well in this way, when i still had my congress seat, i would start a tax change on grain, to lower income tax to 0, so i could lower my wages by 10% and be able to sell cheaper 🙂 But hey we need to pay for this country with all of us, so the weapon industry as well so why would their income tax be lowered to 7% since everyone pays 10%.
too bad Jacob van Guldenweege didnt start a discussion about this first. changing the income tax will have a huge impact on the whole business environment in the Netherlands. as a Manager Jacob should have known this, I am a little disappointed in this action.
And is this a DTS move or just a Jacob van den Guldenweege move is what I am wondering.
What surprises me more is that 13(!) congressmen voted yes.
@ViperNL, and 13 congresmen voted No
@ DanielB: As far as I know, and I'm pretty sure, this is a personal proposal of Jacob.
I would rather had changed the entire economy of the Netherlands to 7% Income tax, but one can only propose tax change for one sector at a time, I picked weapons cause that would benefit many people.
I will not lower my wages one single dime, the 7% income tax is a tax I think should be common for everything.
As for the VAT it will just make weapons more affordable for the dutch citicens so more can fight armed in these trainingwars.
No extra profit there either, at best more people will buy dutch weapons, instead of foreign one's and that is only good for our gold-balance.
So, were is the extra profit? there is none, there is just a point made the REAL politics are ingame, and I am fed up with jabbering on the forum, not making any decicions at all.
You said over 2 weeks ago you would calcultate if the tax decrease whas possible, and still : nothing, still the same jabbering, and I have no trust you will show us any more than hollow words the last 5 days.
So see this as a silent protest, I use my proposal power, one sector at a time to change the economy, unless YOU can show me why that would be bad.
To make this point clear, this was a private propsal, DTS was not included in any form.
"So see this as a silent protest, I use my proposal power, one sector at a time to change the economy, unless YOU can show me why that would be bad."
It is not that silent. You better had started a poll on our national forum http://www.enetherlands.nl" target="_blank">http://www.enetherlands.nl or write an article that the government is slow. Now you have made a proposal that can change the economics of the United Netherlands in a bad way.
And if you are inside DTS, you better ask your comrades first so your proposal could have had the input of others before posting it. It is your right to post a law proposal, but in this case it was not so smart to make it.
"I picked weapons cause that would benefit many people."
No, it would benefit YOU
"So, were is the extra profit? there is none, there is just a point made the REAL politics are ingame, and I am fed up with jabbering on the forum, not making any decicions at all."
No.. You potentially screw up the treasury and the balance just for making a point? Nobody's going to believe that.
Why is it you promised to stop whining and ranting and are still continueing it lol
"Why is it that the iron of dutch mine was not sold dayly as it should, so that there would be no need for an export licence now"
we don't need an export licence for it... All the iron has been donated to dutch weapons
"*Why is it we are hearing the jabbering about let's see if it's financially possible to cut taxes for 3 weeks now and still nothing has been done"
I don't know, but a thorough investigation of what the impact would be of a taxchange, is not something done overnight.
"*Why is it the state compagny's are bought for prices that are higher than should have been"
Could you show us where state companies have been bought for more than they were worth?
"*Why is it theire is still no gold stabilisation in place, even while the call for it is loud"
Really, is the call for it loud? The call for a free monetary market was even louder.
"*Why is it every time there ARE official law proposals made for the taxes, you torpede (or worse lock or remove them) just cause "we are still jabbering about it""
You have little clue of what kind of money is needed to do the things the state does. If the Dutch government would cease all spending, our country would look completely different (and not for the better).
blablabla
