Print Money: the DIY Method

Day 1,526, 10:56 Published in USA Greece by Dodona

Howdy,

Today we will talk a bit about game mechanics; those of the economy module, to be precise. The good thing about them is that they are not all out in the open. Where's the fun in that, right? No, there are some details that you have to figure out yourself and the good game may reward you for that. Take the mechanics of Zeus, for example. They won't tell you that he's there or what he does, but if you find out the details, they'll reward you.

Now on the mechanics of trading goods in the marketplace. You sell a product for net price (2 decimal places), taxes are applied to this price (more than 3 decimal places) and the sum of them is what a (real) consumer pays (rounded at 2 decimals). The latter is the price you insert when you try to sell products. Seller receives net price, buyer pays gross price, Treasury gets the taxes. Solid and legit.
A minor detail: due to rounding in the gross price, money are printed or disappearing every single day.

ok so I visited Peru the other day. Don't ask why, it's a lie anyways. Treasury had 49,700 something, so I donated a few hundred and rounded it to 50k. I happen to have Peruvian export license (that's the 3rd lie in this paragraph) and I had 20k raw material up for sale @0.35 that nobody was buying. So I thought, "I've missed my RMs, let me buy them". I paid 7,000 got back 7,000, no harm done. Then I posted up at 0.36, but realized that nobody will buy them, so I bought them back again. Any of you watching the Treasury, btw?

At that time a friend of mine showed up and told me: let's play ping-pong with your RMs, should be fun. How high should we go? Let's do 0.49. If the import tax was at 2% we'd have played 0.24. Just saying...
By the time we were done, Treasury had 70k. Everybody's happy, now let's go home.

oh VAT works similarly, k?

I hope you get the picture. If you don't then feel free to call me and I'll explain further. I kinda tried to be a bit discreet here.

If you have found the above entertaining and informative AND you're gonna take up ping-pong, then feel free to read "about me".

Alternatively, you can donate to my friend Ntaikos, because when he read my previous article he contacted me, offering his large storage and free export licenses, just like that. that's Hellenic Infantry for you right there.

PS: V is free
PPS: and so is S

Merci bien
