Prime Ministers Question Time with jamesw

Day 1,674, 13:24 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by HebronGazelle

Today at 8pm, the general public of the eUK got the chance to ask questions to our current prime minister, jamesw. If you missed the actual talk, here are most of the questions.

1. With Brazil leaving Terra and the recent creation of CoT, where do you see the alliance system going in the near future?
2. Is it true that ESO have been using MoHA and MoR for their own recruitment gains?
3. Why are we not invading Canada to help Poland?
4. Can you tell us, right now, if you'll be seeking a second term?
5. I've always thought the Canada wars were boring and I'm fed up of fighting them. Are there other options for war we could take?
6. How is our current Tax changes holding up?
7. When is the economy module going to change as there is no profit in hiring staff unless you have q6, Also it makes no sense the factories output that needs to change maybe back to V1. Do you agree ?
8. could we not stockpile said tanks until we have a must win battle?
9. Do you think Spain will leave ONE? If yes will Poland follow?
10. Will there be a replacement for Temujin, and if so who?
11. Has the amount of people applying for NHS rose or dropped since he took over?

Below, are his responses...

Question 1, From Anon: With Brazil leaving Terra and the recent creation of CoT, where do you see the alliance system going in the near future?
jamesw: To be honest, it depends on the USA-France relatinoship
jamesw: relationship*
jamesw: If USA chooses brazil over france, france will leave terra and join EDEN
jamesw: then EDEN will contain all of the anti-brazil countries (romania, croatia, france, etc)
jamesw: so EDEN co-operation with Brazil/USA/Terra becomes strained
jamesw: In truth, CoT should be given some time; I have a feeling it will be ONE-aligned
jamesw: if so, it is simply making official the fact that ONE-BG has co-operated for some time
jamesw: For the future: it depends on how EDEN deal with brazil/USA/france
jamesw: and to an extent: russia
jamesw: EDEN has a nasty habit of not dying, whereas those around it tend to accept death
jamesw: So i'd say Terra will reform under a new name, potentially with brazil rejoining and france leaving
jamesw: otherwise, the rumour mill has many interesting things: like brazil and china joining CoT
jamesw: The future is uncertain, as always unpredictable, and will ultimately see some countries, somewhere, calling someone else a traitor and/or a bad ally
jamesw: the only question is which country will be calling which

Question 2, From Lauren Taylor: Is it true that ESO have been using MoHA and MoR for their own recruitment gains?
jamesw: not true
jamesw: Communications have been purely based on forwarding the governments agenda; ie signing people up to strikes, CTA, NHS, etc
jamesw: I'll be messaging everyone that has come into contact with the government via PM this term later on tonight, advertising CTA/strikes/etc and mentioning if they have any issues/suggestions/requests in relation to their previous correspondence
jamesw: they can contact me in confidence and privacy
jamesw: Of course, if parties have evidence of malpractice or abuse of positions, the offer of anonymity and treating things in confidence has, and will remain, on the table
jamesw: I'll look at anything/everything, but I have the utmost confidence in BlueAndEvil
jamesw: I'd also mention: the messaging side of the MoHA is run by Max_Blue - who is not (i believe) an ESO member anyway
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: I've been working in the MoHA, doing the NHS supplying and messaging new players, and I personally haven't told anyone to join the ESO. I cannot tell for certain if other players have been recruiting for the ESO but I've never heard of it.

Question 3, From mahaffyman: Why are we not invading Canada to help Poland?
jamesw: We're currently discussing this
jamesw: There will be an update, and potentially a proposal in the coming days
jamesw: I'll keep you up to date with progress in my reports; as of now, we have received no request for official help (yet)
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: It would be interesting to invade Canada, we could get a few regions from it as well, it would definately distract Canada. It will be interesting to see whether we go into any country at the moment, or whether we will use our troops to fight for Poland.

Question 4, From Anon: Can you tell us, right now, if you'll be seeking a second term?
jamesw: Unless no other credible candidates come forward, i will not be seeking a second term
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: jamesw has not been doing bad as prime minister. He has set up the MoR and kept us informed everyday, unlike most prime ministers I have seen.

Question 5, From Anon: I've always thought the Canada wars were boring and I'm fed up of fighting them. Are there other options for war we could take?
jamesw: i gave congress two options in terms of war this term
jamesw: One was new, one was not
jamesw: Its up to them to decide which they prefer, and in light of the polish situation
jamesw: I have made my recommendations, but ultimately i have to work within a system which sees roughly 50% of congress being against me existing in game, let alone supporting my platform/proposals
jamesw: I won't go into details here; purely because if the countries involved found it, they could NE us before we could retaliate
jamesw: But anyone who is hugely intereste😛 I will be publishing most of the sensitive parts of my term once it is over, sometime in july
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: Since I started this game, the only war I've seen with Canada was us being taken over, which I thought of as exciting. I don't know about what has happened in the past between us and Canada but I doubt it was boring. I know of the two options avaliable, but cannot discuss them here.

Question 6, From Anon: How is our current Tax changes holding up?
jamesw: as the MoF pointed out, our first 10 days saw an average 'increase' in our reserves of £12,000
jamesw: I'll just grab our current figures, and i can tell you our average income post-tax change
jamesw: Right: so the week following the tax change, our income is up (on average) roughly £10,000 per day
jamesw: and upto now, our average income is roughly that amount more, p/d
jamesw: Looking at these, yeah, the average daily increase is ~12,000
jamesw: But as well as tax increases; we've also seen huge spending reductions
jamesw: The MoD budget is now roughly 40% of what it was
jamesw: despite it increasing supplies/etc for CTA/Strikes
jamesw: indeed, if you include the 'one off' spending that was supplying in the last term
jamesw: MoD spending is, when comparing directly, roughly 11% of what it was
jamesw: on average
jamesw: Also, the fabled 'NHS bankrupcy' that some hypothesized, is not even remotely close to happening; its cost is steady and in line with last month
jamesw: so tl;dr - tax increase = income increase, but we've also saved a fortune on MPPs/removing wasted programs and we've clamped down on last months ridiculous MoD spending
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: Economy is not my kind of area, but it's good that we are making a profit after the huge cost of the NHS.

Question 7, From Dondapper: When is the economy module going to change as there is no profit in hiring staff unless you have q6, Also it makes no sense the factories output that needs to change maybe back to V1. Do you agree ?
jamesw: Unfortunately, admins removed any sort of 'extra info' to CPs a while ago: in the past, I would have been able to tell you whether the changes were good or bad (without going into details or substantive information)
jamesw: Unfortunately I know about as much as anyone else; which is that they are working on 'changes', but thats it
jamesw: What is rumoured is that they'll bring back the idea that instead of having 'WRM' you will have 'iron' 'aluminium' 'rubber' etc
jamesw: and you'll need some of every resource to make a weapon/food
jamesw: And having a rubber regino will increase rubber as well as weapon production, just as aluminium will increase aluminium/weap production, etc
jamesw: whatever they do: they should either make the formulas so its impossible to overproduce, or, bring back the bot to fix things
jamesw: because right now; its a race to £0.01 for raw material
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: Sorry, ask Plato for this... But if your expecting a good update, then your living in another world to the rest of us.

Question 8, From Firefox30: could we not stockpile said tanks until we have a must win battle?
jamesw: We have a stockpile of tanks too
jamesw: We're using it to save up, but also to repay debts that Appleby ran up
jamesw: I'd also remind you: we have a huge amount of GBP in Bank of England / HM Treasury for emergencies
jamesw: at last count, i believe it was 1.5m GBP +
jamesw: as well as 1700 dericious gold
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: Phew... At least we have back-up tanks. I would like to know how much these debts are though, as the figure I believe could be payed off with the money the country has, hopefully I'm over-estimating as well.

Question 9, From Mahaffyman: Do you think Spain will leave ONE? If yes will Poland follow?
jamesw: If anything, spain are as committed to ONE as ever, even moreso
jamesw: I can speak with definite clarity on this, and i know that Outsmarter (their CP) wont mind me saying: as a government and country they are wholly committed to ONE
jamesw: They aren't going anywhere, and neither are poland
jamesw: Who, incidentally, i'm having a private meeting with as we speak
jamesw: The rumours of spain leaving, where (in Outsmarter's words) based on an inexperienced president being lead astray by trolls and those who wanted to weaken the party that CP came from
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: I very much doubt that Spain, will leave one. They are possessing Portugal and have USA in their territory. Spain will want to beat both of these countries. As for Poland, they wont leave, they love destroying nations, and to leave ONE to join another alliance would mean giving up a lot of regions.

Question 10, From Anon: Will there be a replacement for Temujin, and if so who?
jamesw: At the moment, Talon_Karrde is helping in MoFA
: hai
jamesw: Nebojsa is also having issues with internet, but between me, neb and talon we are handling things fine
jamesw: if/when that is no longer the case, I will seek another MoFA
jamesw: but as of now, things are ok - not great, but ok
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: I'm sure the MoFA will do fine, I never thought of the MoFA as the eUK's biggest job. The prime minister should be going to many of the meetings, as long as he's not busy. And I'm not really sure of what else the MoFA does besides that.

Question 11, For BlueAndEvil: Has the amount of people applying for NHS rose or dropped since he took over?
BlueAndEvil: We are seeing a gradual decline in NHS signups, but since we're coming down from our baby boom, that's to be expected
BlueAndEvil: We are still doing all we can to contact and inform as many new players as we can
BlueAndEvil: but the real constraint is manpower - only me and a small number of people help out in this respect
CheetahCurtis' Opinion: I can tell you that the NHS is not losing lots of people. We have had over 10 people signing on a few days. We are slowly dropping a bit though. But alls good, we still have many people to supply (Over 150!).
P.S. The article looked scary so I just added some bigger, cooler text quickly so you all don't go blind.
