Prime Minister Insults New Canadian

Day 724, 12:38 Published in Canada Canada by Jayson V

I find myself dismayed and puzzled after reading the Canadian news today. Here I am in Malaysia, thinking all of the combat action is happening here, when I log into my organization, to read the news and discover a response from our Prime Minister to a new player with the headline ‘Dear Mastah Mason Man’.

In truth, I can not read minds, and I do not know what the Prime Minister has meant by this title, but the connotation it holds for me is an unpleasant one. It seems to imply that Acacia Mason, who last night fought beside me in a coordinated Rangers effort in Malaysia is a racist. For the sake of clarity, I would ask that our Prime Minister clarify this remark – either way. I personally don’t think it is polite to throw around such accusations lightly, not even in a game.

Now DAL supporters and pro-Duncan forces may think this is just another attack article. I will declare my political history up front. When I joined this game I was a member of the CPP, largely due to the fact that I was assisted by Fram, who I think is a pretty awesome guy. I then switched to the CSD because our candidate for Prime Minister did not put out a platform until after I voted. Plus the CSD folks seem congenial enough. In short, I don’t have strong political ties and am not blinded by allegiance to a particular party at this point.

I will alsosay that from my limited perspective that WD has done a capable job of leading our nation. Could someone do better? Most certainly. Here and in real life there is always someone who can do better then you or me. Thems the facts. No one is irreplaceable. So that means it is probably a good idea to be nice to people, even if they are not always nice to you. The trappings of power come with responsibilities.

The original article published by Mason had 16 comments, and most of them were supportive. The response published by Duncan already has 22 comments, mostly unsupportive, even to the point where Scorp, who seems to be a long time Duncan supporter isn’t even entering the fray.

The response of Duncan is kind of like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. I don’t think it is fitting for people to call each other names. It is certainly not fitting for a Prime Minister to call a new player names. We want new players to be active and live long and prosper right? Insulting folks doesn’t really help make that happen.

In terms of strategic leadership it would have been best not to respond to Mason. Sometimes, more often then you would think, the best response is no response. But thanks for the juicy fodder for my noob paper ;_)
