Presidential Elections - Possible Candidate

Day 803, 06:35 Published in Austria Denmark by Oraizan

(Hopefully this article works, eRepublik is full of bugs lately 😒)
I write today not as a member of a party, or member of congress, but as a citizen of eAustria who wants our country to have a bright future. I firmly believe that the best way forward in the coming month is together, with cooperation, and with friendship. But there also must be a clear agenda, and a commitment behind it. The thing I value most in a president is activity. I wish to throw my name into the race, and while I am party president and could endorse myself anytime, I have not rushed into this decision. I do not wish to run without support from my party members, and have already talked to many, and many outside of the party. Below, I will state my case to the rest of Austria, for your consideration.

Experience
Congress 8x
President of Japan 1x
Vice President 2x
Chief of Staff 2x
Minister of Foreign Affairs 3x straight
Minister of Culture 3x
Minister of Education 4x
Secretary to PEACE SG 1x (Triumvirate)
Company Owner

Cabinet
Chief of Staff - Metallon
The very first person I met in Austria many months ago. Somebody who I remember to have good advice, and able to put the blunt, sometimes harsh truth forward without worries. I already am neutral, so I need somebody who is more extreme by my side for a different view point. Metallon is best suited and capable of this, but most importantly he is well educated on game mechanics.

Minister of Foreign Affairs - Rangeley
There is nobody in the eWorld better at dealing with people than Rangeley. Even when I was working in PEACE, or in other countries, Rangeley is definitely the best I have ever met. He is thorough and will do the job well, no doubt about it.

Minister of Defense - Yonai Keiko
She filled in for Husker a bit this past month, and she did a great job at it. I would love to see her do more than just direct, but actually re-organize and lead the army into something great.

Secretary of Defense - Husker
No doubt about it that he had amazing ideas. It is a shame that he had/has computer problems and was able to finish them. I would love to see him work with the Minister of Defense to put his idea's forward, and hopefully he will be active enough so that they can work together actively to finish the job.

Minister of Finance - Stoneman
By far the most active I have seen among the current cabinet. He put great commitment into learning about eRepublik economy mechanics and has gone far since. This month he surprised me greatly by contacting my company to encourage exports. He has proven to be active and willing to improve eAustria, and I am positive that he will surprise me more in the future. Therefore he is the greatest choice for this position.

Secretary of Finance - Karantanec
He is well knowledgeable in eRepublik economy mechanics, and I think he will be a good addition to help boost stoneman's productivity, and possibly even give him some new ones.

Minister of Health - Borojevic
He has been active in the past with this ministry, and I would like to see him use this activity along with his ability to speak and write German to make some changes to the system of health-education. If anybody wishes to assist him with this position should I win (and after reading what he will be doing - it will be a time consuming job for one person) contact myself.

Minister of Education - Eisenhorn
He is somewhat new to eAustria. I have known him for a long time however, and I am positive he will be dedicated to continuing the job that Rangeley has done so well. I believe he can even expand it and/or work with the Minister of Health to help make new citizens feel more comfortable here in eAustria and eRepublik all-together.

If there is any problem, you do not wish to serve as my cabinet, or you think you should be listed on my cabinet for a certain job, please let me know via PM ASAP so I can find a replacement.

War-games
The first thing that eAustria will need, should we not have it by the time elections for Country President are over, is war-games. War-games do more than just give people experience points. New citizens can get their wellness higher, and in turn will have better production for companies. It can potentially spark a further interest in the game, because above all, war is the base-line for activity. It encourages more than just two-clicking. (Really, doesn't 7-clicking sound more awesome?) It encourages people to check the media, or official newspapers for information on current battles. It is a gateway to activity. Recently we have been gaining many new citizens, so this is doubly important while we have the boost of people joining that we get them hooked on the game and community as soon as possible.

Health
The country with the best guides in this game (in my opinion) is Sweden. They have amazing guides that run beyond wellness and fighting. I want to either incorporate these guides into our system, or write our own to the same quality where they are respected and thorough on the topics. It is important that new citizens not only know how to make their character seem good, but they also understand what they can do in the game, and are able to find information on the topic. This will not be all we need, and there will always be more questions, but this is a good step towards educating on a general basis.

Extended Mentoring
Stoneman has created this new idea to have an education academy so that new, interested citizens can have help grasping the economic game mechanics for businesses, and beyond. I have always been supportive of similar ideas, and I am glad it has been put into action. The only way to ensure that future generations are knowledgeable on game mechanics is to teach them and pass on knowledge. He has already begun to look for interested congress members to help get this program off the ground, and I plan to do what I can to help this program succeed if elected.

Foreign Affairs
Being close with the countries around eAustria is a very important thing. I realize every president promises to reach out to them, it is a common thing. I am more than promising, it will happen. The first job for my Minister of Foreign Affairs will be to message all presidents, and invite them to our IRC, and possibly join theirs. Many active presidents use 'Internet Relay Chats' to communicate with their country, as do we. One way to be friendly (or not..) with a country is to allow them to join your community and become friends with them. If in the future we face somebody on the battlefield, it would be great to do it on a happy note and be able to respect and know eachother.

Secondly, I want our community to get to know other Presidents better. I will have the Minister of Foreign Affairs interview different Presidents every few days and report it in his newspaper. This way we can get some good ideas about current events from presidents and/or learn more about those around us, as well as give the media a boost of activity and quality articles to read.

My last idea for this area is to have the Minister of Foreign affairs and/or myself collect information about the alliances around us. There are many of them, and events definitely revolve around them. it is important to be informed on what they mean, who runs them each month, and what wars are currently going on. This is something that will also be compiled (hopefully early in the month) and reported on into the media and/or the forums for future presidents to hold onto.

Constitution
Some people do not agree with it, others think it is finely written. Last term it was promised to be improved, but this initiative was not 100% put into action. I plan to go over it with my Cabinet and/or Congress and try and see if we can move it into a direction that we can all agree with. Thus, we will actively seek opinions from the people of eAustria interested in the constitution. We can explore the idea of a Kaiser, and can edit the constitution together as a community to make it something much more grand and widely respected.

Internet Relay Chats
Some arguments that have been going on in the countries IRC channels is which to have official. Most diplomats are directly invited to the more recent channel on rizon #eaus rather than the other one #eAustria. I want to put an end to this feud once and for all so that the IRC can move onto other opinons.

The reason there is two channels is because Austria is divided into two different sides. One more aggressive, another much more passive. Aggressive and Passive people never mix. I want to find an in-between and solve it. In my personal opinion both should be used. One can be heavily moderated and I would like to set rules for it with congress. The other can be more open ended, a place where we can talk about anything and everything our mind wants with the exception to hurting others. This is something I hope we can start discussing now. The community is nothing if we cannot be friendly.

Mutual Protection Pacts
This is probably the most spoken of area at the moment. MPP's allow us to join war-games, fight for the freedom of other counties, and help in our own defense. The goal of Austria has always been to support countries having their own regions and being allowed to live a fearless present.

The first thing I want to do is help France. They stood by us during the last attack on Burgenland, and were most interested in helping Austria maintain its independence. Austria is not a powerful military force, it probably will not be anything near it in the forseeable future. One thing we do have is the ability to bring other countries together and try and help our allies as much as possible. Right now I feel that we are giving up on France by not renewing our MPP. We have not made enough effort to help them. If we can get other countries interested in helping free French regions, we can renew our MPP with them and fight for their independence like true allies, and give them back all that they gave to us. This is of course, if they have not found independence on their own, after the elections.

Immigration
We have grown greatly in numbers over the past few months, but there is always room for further growth. We must continue to push for new citizens, both off site, and from other countries. In regards to new citizenship approvals for people from elsewhere, it is important to set up a set of guidelines for congress. Congress has only a very small amount of citizenship passes to hand out, and those we do give should, therefore, be given to active people, willing to stay, be involved, and help out.
With a set of guidelines, and a template for citizenship applications, we can go through and better determine who these people are. The job of creating this guideline will go to the Minister of Education, and I hope with congress's help, we can edit it, and make it something acceptable.

Next, we need to reach out. Both outside of Erepublik, but also inside it. We can do this simply by reaching out to other communities, and inviting them into ours. They may not move to Austria right away, and may just enjoy our IRC, but over the long run we may see more and more people want to move to Austria. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will do the base of this work, and the rest will be simply myself and/or my cabinet running around trying to bring others to our media, encourage embassy's on our forums, and even invite them into our IRC through conversation.

Bilingual eAustria
While some people can speak both English and German, others can only speak one or the other. It is important that we actively seek to support both languages, in particular, German, which I feel is left out. I would like to start up an official government organization, consisting of people who are active, willing, and able to speak both languages and translate between them. They will be open to the public to translate and edit articles to those who cannot speak one of the languages, as well as to the government. The only requirement is that they are available on IRC to be contacted.

If this group goes well, we can set up an official gmail where all those interested have access and can use it together to translate. That is of course, if the idea is popular enough. We can set up a form and have them e-mail over the article with the form, and hopefully have it done within 12 hours of sending.

If you are interested in joining the team send me a private message!

Conclusion
Should I gain support, I will do my best to actively see this country work towards something great, with the help from everyone in the community. I will continue to be open minded in politics. I will step out of my box to keep my cabinet in-line and doing their jobs. I will do my best to ensure that the new citizens are able to grow quickly, and enjoy the community as much as I do.

These are my ideas and those of anybody listed. I do not want to stop here. If you have ideas, let me know! Send me a private message or comment, and I will definitely consider or at least bring up discussion on the issue. I cannot do it alone, I will never have all the answers, nobody does. If we work together we can do our best, and do it proudly.

If you have any questions ask, and I will gladly answer them.
