PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES: THIS is the only question that matters

Day 1,991, 19:18 Published in Ireland Ireland by Arjay Phoenician III

With presidential elections this weekend, I’m not asking candidates to list their resumes or to break down their economic or foreign policy. Who they have in their Cabinet isn’t concerning me this time around. I only have one question for the wannabe-leaders of eIrelan😛

Over the last three weeks, as this country was losing to the British and getting wiped off the map, what were you doing?

I don’t think I’m off my nut in asking this. Those who are running for president, they do so at a time when morale is teetering, when our original territory has been drastically cut away, and when our current set of leaders should be questioned vigorously on how we got into this mess. I don’t care how you plan to solve it, because the problem will take care of itself, and if we Irish have any balls whatsoever, we’ll take our regions back, sooner or later.

I just care what you were doing while our little nation was being gobbled up. Were you on IRC or on various message threads, complaining to your buddies? Were you fighting every day, as best as you could, and seeing to it that others were supplied so they could fight as well? Were you networking with our allies, keeping them appraised, posturing them to get more of their support? What exactly were you doing that makes you think you now deserve someone’s vote?

It’s an important question. A lot of us put real money into gold, thinking we were going to defend our island, come what may. We could have fought elsewhere, but we stayed here and fought. Did you fight with us? Did you inspire others to fight with us? Or did you just whine at how bad we were losing and dump your insults on MUFC922 and his staff?

Yes, a lot of things really sucked rocks the last few weeks. What did you do to try to correct them? If you’re thinking you’re presidential material, then certainly you already have a few tricks up your sleeve, a couple of militia buddies around the world you called to come to our assistance. Maybe you have contacts in the UK and tried to pull your strings to bring this war to a merciful end. What little things were you doing behind the scenes, be they successful or not, to try to stem the tide?

I don’t care about potential in this election. Grandiose plans don’t matter to me. Those candidates who took the time in writing out their platforms, they wasted their energy if they thought it would get my vote. I have a litmus test, and the best answer will get my vote, and hopefully others will see things this way and vote accordingly.

In our darkest hour, when the chips were down, when this country needed something to rally around, where were you, Presidential Candidate? How did you demonstrate leadership when it was needed most? True leaders don’t need a badge of authority, they don’t need titles or ranks, they simply step up and do what they have to do. THAT’S the kind of president I’m looking for, someone who was a leader before a popularity contest gave them permission.
