President Salve's Election Speech

Day 380, 15:49 Published in Norway Norway by Salve

Here we find our selves once again, preparing to file into the voting booths and cast our ballots on the person we find most capable of leading Norway through the trials of the coming month. Over the past term my administration has worked hard to halt Norway's ever obvious slide from superpower to obscurity and work towards reversing that trend. After one month in office I am proud to say that I believe we have gone a long way towards getting Norway back on the right path.

The last time I stood before you, dictating the goals that I wished to achieve in my first term I told you that I wished to:

*Secure Military Protection Pacts with ATLANTIS
*Establish National Bank
*Institute controlled inflation to bring Norwegian products to a competitive international price level
*Establish Nationalized Defense Systems
*Place all finished Hospitals
*Oversee the peaceful independence of Russia/Finland
*Rebuild relations with Finland and Russia
*Constitutional Reform

Again, I am proud to say that in each of these areas we've been able to make great progress. We have worked with ATLANTIS to secure our MPP's at a reasonable cost, keeping our nation safe and incurring little expense to the treasury. We have established our National Bank, keeping funding fluid and our nation quicker to react to trouble at our borders, the borders of our allies, and trouble within our economy. In November we saw the price of the NOK fall to levels that now keep Norwegian business at an advantage when selling products abroad. In the defense industry, we were the proud founders of our first nationalized DS company, and are well on the way to provide Norway with one of its first Q5 defense systems. The finished Q4 hospitals have been placed and health coverage is in the process of being upgraded, closely following the advance of the production in our defense program. Unfortunately, as expected, we have simply not had enough time to open serious inquires into the possibility of Constitutional reform, but there is plenty of time to hold those discussions in the month ahead.

Relations with Finland and Russia are on the right track, with Finland and Norway actively working together to attempt an unprecedented wargame in the form of SPEAR. In Russia, despite early setbacks towards rebuilding friendship with Russian officials, we have managed to get things back on track and achieved more cooperation between our countries than we've had since the invasion of Russia. In all honest, if there is any area of my last term that I do not personally look back at favorably, it would be the handling of the Russian resistance war debacle. I have never been too proud to admit when I have not lived up to my potential and when the Russian revolution began, I believe I played a hand I would not have otherwise liked to have played. Proper steps where not taken by myself and other parties involved to avoid the chaos that ensued the release of Russia's first region. In the hours that followed we were drawn into a debacle, the product of months of hostility brewing between our nations. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, apologies were made, and now cooperation continues unhindered once again between Norway and Russia.

---

Now in the next term we are faced with keeping the system we've installed headed in the right direction while continuing to strengthen our defenses, and ward off attack. We have made leaps and bounds in preparing our military to defend our borders, but there is much work to done this month before we are fully prepared to re-assume our rightfully place as leaders of the eWorld. I believe that I am the person to led our nation once again and keep the progress of our nation rolling along. I am very grateful of the support that has been lent to me once again to continue my work towards a more prosperous, safer Norway. I hope that in the time leading up to this election you will all keep me in your consideration before you enter your final ballot for the December presidency.

To all of the candidates up for election, I wish you all luck as we continue to move forward and create a better Norway.

-Thank You,
