Hello eCanada!
Boy, was that election ever close. 1 vote difference and you wouldn’t have elected me as your new Minister of Finance. Oh, you didn’t even know about that? Well now you do.
I want to hit the ground running and I want to hear from you about how you would like us to spend our tax revenue. I’ve opened three nearly identical discussions just for that purpose. If it’s not obvious, this is one of them. I'll link you to the others later.
So Canada, I’m listening. This is your money. If you were Minister of Finance, what would you do?
I would like to be clear though: just because you give me your wish list, doesn’t mean you’ll get everything or even anything. I’ll also let you know that despite my reputation as being verbose, I may not respond to your suggestions at all. I see this as a way of getting ideas, not debating their merits (at least not yet), although please feel free to give as much detail and reasoning for your details as you wish.

My suggestion: A loan program. I don't know maybe a 200k for this trial project. 8500 CAD per requested. Only one loan per citizen per month. With no interest. You appoint a director you keep record and received weekly repayment (about 1000 per week). After 8 weeks the loan should be fully repay. If a citizen don't repay his loan or can give his 1000 CAD/week without any reasonable explication, you put him on a black list. He can no longer be trusted and have another loan.
It works pretty well in eFranc. Only 3-4 people with maybe a fifty loans so far are on the black list. And it a good way to replace the construction program.
Its my money? Then give it back to me! Hundreds of thousands of CAD will be mine.
Max's loan program sounds good. It speculate a lot in the marketplace and I could definetely use some capital to expand my storage and make more money 🙂
Max, a loan of 8500 for a mine or fruit orchard will only generate about 125 CAD per week.
How can a person pay back 1000/week?
It will take 68 weeks or 17 months at current WRM prices and production bonuses to repay that loan...it was a great idea when the Platobot was buying at higher prices.
awww, thx for the input Pugson. I'm always kind of behind of those economics changes. Still we should have a program to helps younger players like Mihai. A loan seems to be a good way to be sure the money was well invested, with little risk for the govt, but with only 125 CAD per week, cannot do anything.
Send me at least 10K CAD each week which I'll distribute to the most worthy Canadians out there. Mostly those named Alexander Rearden.
Also, you should make gold cheep again using the magical power of being MoF.
Lastly, bring back the Ministry of Industries and hire everyone and send everyone Q6 weapons for free daily.

If we truly want to meet the needs of new young Canadians, hoping to keep them involved, I still think doing it through the MU's is the best way. With new Canadians directed to MU's by ingame mechanics, this seems to me the most plausible way.
Now, I understand that the current system has it's challenges and downsides; improve it by all means. But if we want to meet the needs of newer players, I am open to other avenues.
@Chochi: watch for those knives pointing at your back. Dictators don't usually appreciate their underlings seeking public approval for their policies.
