Pre-approval of newspaper articles?

Day 1,208, 20:56 Published in USA USA by Evan Feinman

Dear admins,

We like this game. We want you to be successful. You've got a very nice underlying game here. However, lately you've really been dropping the ball, and I can tell you honestly that most of us now think you interventions hurt the game more than help it.

Let me acquaint you with a concept in American jurisprudence: prior restraint. Here's the wiki:

Prior restraint is often considered a particularly oppressive form of censorship in Anglo-American jurisprudence because it prevents the restricted material from being heard or distributed at all. Other forms of restrictions on expression (such as suits for libel, slander, defamation, or actions for criminal libel) generally involve punishment only after the offending material has been published. While such punishment might lead to a chilling effect, legal commentators argue that at least such actions do not directly impoverish the marketplace of ideas. Prior restraint, on the other hand, takes an idea or material completely out of the marketplace. Thus it is often considered to be the most extreme form of censorship.

You see, by requiring public statement to be cleared before publishing you're really antagonizing a large portion of your player base. It's not so much what you're censoring, it's that you're censoring that drives us crazy. It offends our fundamental sensibilities.

I fully anticipate this article not getting published, or getting forfeit points for publishing it. You see, it feels like, even though we all want this game to succeed, and for you guys to make tons of money for founding it, you fight us - constantly.

Anyway, I invite folks to comment.
