Political Takeovers - Definition, Current PTOs, Morality (Part 1: Overview)
Serendipitous
A political takeover (hereinafter referred to as "PTO"
😉is most often described as the following:
~A successful political invasion of another country, usually originating in a larger country. PTOs usually occur when a smaller country has something of worth, or allows a larger nation a strategic advantage on their enemy. A PTO occurs most often during Congressional Elections, where a nation can gain a foothold in another nation. PTOs can also occur to political parties, whether implemented by another party or country. This article, however, focuses on COUNTRY TAKEOVERS.
PTOs can be facilitated in these two ways:
~Creation of multiple accounts or botnets in the target nation.
~Small-scale invasion to gain a single seat in Congress, Parliament, etc. for the purpose of granting citizenship.
Current PTOs
A good guide to the history of PTOs is Uncle Sam's Guide to Political Takeovers and Polarization. It offers a comprehensive guide to older PTOs; I'm going to add a few new ones.
Peru
Peru was PTOed by Poland around 10 months ago. A very involved American at the time was Chisholm.
He wrote a series of articles, one of which addresses citizenship: here.
South Africa
South Africa was ravaged by Channers. The Channers have been in many different countries, most notably Venezuela, South Korea, and South Africa. South Africa has always been under threat of PTO, ever since Indonesia originally took over South Africa in the first PTO in history. Since then, they've been trying to wrest control of their own country away from the foreigners.
Mexico
Mexico was PTOed by a coalition group from Romania, Poland, and Croatia. The Venezuelans wiped Mexico to protect themselves, and now we have an enemy at the gates. The situation in Mexico may parallel the situation in Peru; the nation that took over will stay there for quite awhile.
Australia and India
Australia and India have been under repeated PTO attempts by Phoenix. After the ousting of Indonesia from Western Australia for a second time, Indonesia attempted to defeat Australia using a PTO. In India, the Channers have been active in attempting to take over India.
Morality
There are three main groups in my opinion:
~Those who believe that PTOs are a part of the game and avidly promote them.
~Those who believe that PTOs are a part of the game but work against them.
~Those who do not believe that PTOs were an intended mechanism in the game.
Personally, a PTO is a part of the game and depends all on perspective. If Russia were to suddenly be PTOed, I wouldn't mind. However, there's another factor to be considered. In a nation like Peru, it's almost become an annexation by Poland. It has little chance of ever being returned to its rightful owners, and any encroachment would be considered an act of war. Just food for thought.
Ever Faithful,

The eUS, the SEES PTO of the Republican Party.
PTHUT, you truly fail. Please get out of my comment space.
Pizza The Hut is a known PTOer. He is plotting more takeovers as we speak.
This is one of the better article of PTOs that I'd seen before. Voted. Suscribe since two or three weeks. I hope see other article over this theme, I think is very interesting for all the people and because this can't be in another country never more, is bad for the game that a country take the control of other country if isn't whit a war, in a war we've the rebeletion, but no in a PTO unless you've help since other country, and the help can be other attack.
PS: I'm sorry for my possible falt in english, I don't speak english very very well but the article is so far very good.
Your English was fine 🙂
I personally despise PTO's having been CP of ePeru when it happened and now fighting against PTO's in eAus. The main problem with PTO's are that they almost always involve the use of multies, which complicates the morality of the issue.
But, I think its time to fight fire with fire and turn the tables.
How could you forget BiH and Switzerland? ;_;
PtH, thats not a PTO if its involving non-foreign entities, thats just called politics.
nice article
australia, are you affraid with us.????
Wonderful stuff here 🙂
Switzerland and BiH will be covered in the next one. I had to save some stuff for the one that focuses on countries.
If a nation is strong enuf to fend off PTO'ers, then it deserves to exist as a nation. If it is not, then it doesn't. It's the same way in the game, as it has been thru the sands of time in RL. Weak nations have disappeared off the face of the Earth.
Peru is a good example of that. You can hardly call Peru a Polish PTO anymore. Poland has been in charge for a long time now, and it's now Polish Peru.
Great article.
good article 🙂
