Poking ones head above the parapet

Day 796, 14:48 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by GrendelGrendel

After a bit of debate with myself (the children were giving me odd looks and each other knowing glances) I’ve posted a topic on the eUK forum all of my own.

I was reading something the P.M. had posted about Government contracting and felt moved to start a thread on the following….

‘Sorry a dumb Newbie question probably but I was reading the thread about benchmarking prices to ensure that ‘best value is obtained by Buyers, in particular Government Departments.

Now I’m not sure how this works here at the moment but might there not be a case for an eUK Office of Government Commerce (sub of Trade or the Treasury) who could invite tenders for the supply of X for a period of time. The tenders could have all of the price management (reduction) clauses that you get in RL.

As with the Real world (UK law + EU Directives) the results of the tenders could be published so there is a degree of transparency but without releasing commercially sensitive information.

Actually I’m sure that something similar may well be happening already but just in case…. You never know.’

I suppose I’m going to have to brace myself for the inevitable incoming.

Trouble is when your new to something you tend to rely on the stuff that you do know and I have the pleasure of doing the Buying gig in the real world. Which of course is ironic as I suspect many play eREP because it’s not RL.

Keep Calm and Carry On……
