Pointing Out the Sad Truth-Editorial

That is how many votes were wasted on getting these top 5 Congressional Candidates elected past thirty votes:
Derek Harland
Alias Vision
Citizen B
Scorpius
Adasko
Ladies and Gents, it was obvious Hungary will be organized. As were see here, they even surprised me, all of their candidates have received surprisingly precise voting distribution. You can tell they are very good at TOs.
I don't want to put anyone down, we are all at fault with being inexperienced at countering these manouvers, but if we do get PTOd, its that the wrong approach was taken. Its not about voting for someone. Its about stopping voting for people past a reasonable point.
You don't need one candidate getting overkill of 70 votes which could have put in five to seven of our patriots into Parliament.
Oh well, this is more of an educated rant at a flaw in anti-PTO procedure taken up by our government, not saying that you're at fault or that I'm better than anyone, its just inexperience showing, and sadly, its during a crucial time when mistakes exact a harsh toll.

Ha ha, nice job, Banach. We may pull this out yet, but indeed, things look grim.
Those DAL fans have yet to figure out what strategic voting is. 😛
(just kidding!)
^ You're not kidding. 😉
Two-clickers won't notice this article.
Two-clickers won't notice the articles written to prevent the PTO.
Two-clickers won't notice the Congress votes raising taxes, impeaching the President, and donating all that printed CAD all over the place.
Two-clickers may not even notice their change in income tax or the lack of employment.
They may notice when another country's flag is up there in the corner of their screen and all their media is in French, Hungarian, Russian, or English (oh wait, they won't notice that last one).
So what do we do to get the attention of the vast majority of eCanadians who play this game as a 3 minute diversion? I dunno but that's the secret to waking the sleeping giant.
I apologize for alienating a large group of citizens...not that you'll notice.
I would agree, Banach is calling it right on. I have seen very little direction or current updated info telling ppl where to move and vote. Very recently there was some updated info posted on the ecanada forums. it would appear that there is no coordination going on, lets get this thing together, its never over till its over. I'm still hanging on to my vote till my last log on and we will need that late push to salvage this.
I would be curious to know how many two-clikers there is in eCanada?
Let's be honest here, eRepublik is a horribly boring game if you don't get involved on some level on the social side of things (politics, CAF, economics, etc.). Sadly, the fact that some many people keep voting for the top contenders tends to support the view that a majority of eCanadian are just clicking and not really playing the game (i.e. thinking before doing something).
Very sad day eCanada. For those that though that the war was bad, the next month is going to be horrible.
At 20;38 the count is we have 19 seats, the eHun hordes have 18. Pretty close.
Scrabman needs 7 votes in Alaska
Tawain Panda needs 8 votes in the Yukon
Do what I am doing - troll those online - have they voted? if not send them where they need to go and tell them who to vote for.
I've already found and sent 3 voters - it makes a difference. It may not be organized but it is effective, at least under the circumstances

Okay, I got my frustration out at the two-clickers, let's consider the other side of the coin.
258 is a rather big number. I propose a smaller one: 30.
Today at 00:15 I checked in to see where the Federalist Party of Canada was standing. They were about 8 members ahead of the #4 ranked party, 15 members away from the #5 rank party, and I'm guessing another 15 members away from the #6 ranked party. (someone can fill us in on the exact numbers because I did not write them down)
Whatever the exact numbers were, what is for certain is that a small number of Canadians (way smaller than 25😎 could have stopped this PTO dead in its tracks by keeping the Hungarians out of the Top 5.
If we wanted to make a difference, the real battle was fought on July 24th as we tried to prevent the FPC from placing candidates. It should have been easier to stop it then but delayed decisions may have split our forces. Perhaps we did not take the threat seriously enough.
Still, there are about 3 hours left until the final call is made. We can't lose hope.
oh, and great suggestion Disraeli. I will keep an eye out.
no, you have a good point, Plugson. a lot of these messages in the papers and in the forums are just like preaching to the converted. you can tell the devoted players by the amount of comments they post, etc..
so, how do we reach all the rest?
well, in Hungary, they are so determined, that they actually send PM's to everybody that is a member in their parties, giving them precise instructions, or what time to be on IRC, etc., directly to their mailboxes.
that is how they succeed. If we want to defeat them, then we have to start doing the same thing.
I voted this morning at 3:30EST as I didn't think I would get back on-line until tomorrow. No instructions existed at that point. These measures should have been planned in advance.
Note: I did switch political parties yesterday.
@pimpDollaz
You hit on a very valid point tough to organize without communication. We need to reach out to players, especially the new ones.
First while can be kinda lonely and confusing.
@Jake
Done what I could to share what information I could find.
I think after this war (or during) we need to totally reorganize Canada so we can run more efficiently.
Frankly, I think we should give a specific part of the government the responsibility of stopping this and any other catastrophic events from occuring. I for one was following the advice of my friend, a more experienced player, in voting. I also saw many people saying we should vote here and there, yet there was very little consistency in the intructions. So I say again: some government office should be dedicated to the organization of some sort of counter-measures to PTOs. My vote would have helped more if this happened, that's for sure.
Dear Canadians Fellows, please concentrate and vote only the best positioned candidate in every province witch is NOT belonging to Federalist Party.
Hungarians are cold blood calculated Take Overs, with a lot of experience, you need to vote as follows:
Alaska - Democratic Action League - Chochi - he needs 15 VOTES
Alberta - don't need vote, if you are from here,Buy a ticket, move to Alaska and vote
British Columbia - Canadian Empire Party - Ralph De Ver - needs 7 VOTES
New Brunswick - Democratic Action League - Snoopy257 - needs 17 VOTES
NW Teritories - Democratic Action League - cujo8400 - needs 19 VOTES
Ontario - don't need vote, if you are from here, Buy a ticket, move to NW Teritories and vote
Washington - Canadian Empire Party - Basset - needs 10 VOTES
- Democratic Action League - Lan MacNess - needs 4 VOTES
yUKON - Democratic Action League - Calvin Hobbes - NEEDS 13 VOTES
YOU NEED 85 VOTES IN THIS LAST HOUR TO KICK SOME HUNGARIANS ASSES!!
In this moment, your vote is more important than 10 Q5 weapons on the field, is critical!!!
My name is Danmihai, I'm from eRomania, and I know hungarians style very well.
Go Canada!!! Be strong!!!
I moved and voted and then moved back home I did my part.
i smell a need for a department of homeland security type group within congress dedicated to proecting e-canada from political takeovers of any kind. at least until they put in citizen ship. although to beat that the huns only need keep a group of players here to gain citizen ship and then strike us when we are un-prepared and think were safe. (its what i'd do)
The Americans have an interesting approach. There is plug in the Americans can install that places the latest orders right on top of the "home" screen. How handy would that be?
