Let me begin by congratulating Alexander Hamilton and Gulden Draak on their win yesterday. Emerika is moving in the right direction. It also pleases me to be addressing the United States as its new Secretary of Defense. In the coming weeks, I hope to implement ideas that will continue to strengthen the United States’ position in the new world. This will begin with the direct empowerment of every Emerikan citizen through food distribution programs, via Arm America.

Emerika should never lose a mini-battle during prime-time (between 13:00eRep and 21:00eRep). Since most of eRepublik is asleep while most real life Americans are just getting home for the day, we have an unique advantage. We can carry key battles for our allies and dominate our enemies due to our time advantage. This was crucial in the destruction of Russia, the eviction of Serbia from Asia, and the current penetration of Indonesia. While we have undoubtedly been great these past few months, we can do better.

No matter your activity level in this game, you can help your country. At the very least, Emerikan citizens should subscribe and follow DoD orders. This means fighting smart, and in designated battles. After you work and train, every citizen should check their subscription page and follow the latest orders from the Department of Defense.

A quality Emerikan should do more. Arm America will put out alerts during big battles where citizens can request free food. This will allow the average citizen to fight more, dealing even greater damage to our enemies. Alerts, in the form of advertisements, will run whenever Arm America is distributing food to the general US citizenry. Look for these alerts, submit requests for food, and get involved in the community.To take advantage of Arm America, citizens must request food for fighting via the official US forums. While there, introduce yourself to your fellow players.

Aspiring Kongressmen, future policy-makes, and citizens looking to get involved should be doing even more. Making your way to IRC will make the game instantly better. Everything from party politics, to foreign policy, and even real life is discussed by citizens such as yourself. Citizens on IRC are also more likely to get noticed by those in leadership positions, which means a better chance for advancement within the game.

Arm America will also reward those who are active on IRC. During key moments, in important battles, the Emerkan citizenry may be called to fight. Alerts will go out in #defense calling citizens to contribute in a linked battle. During this time period, those who respond will receive food to fight. It is probable that these alerts will occur multiple times per day during busy campaigns; this means the possibility of getting free food more than once per day. It is best to idle in #defense and wait for an alert while exploring the other channels (hint: the official US channel is #usa-chat). Citizens are always encouraged to contact someone moderating the #defense channel if they are ever unsure where to fight. They are also encouraged to ask about why a particular battle is important, or why something is the way it is. It is always best to ask questions rather than remaining ignorant.Someone will always be present during our prime-time to direct citizens or answer questions.
