Plato's ignorance sucks

What you see below is one button that you can click to hide/show the Top news section on the front page of eRepublik. It's in a script I made, that I mentioned in an article that is now removed/hidden by the moderators.

I made the script because some people (myself included) are constantly annoyed by the mess provoked in the media module by people lacking common sense. The hide button can give you some peace of mind if you want it, and you can display the news again when and IF you want it.

Plato, however, considered my article was external advertisement. As a reply to my request for clarification, they said that "the promotion and/or usage of any (automated) scripts that modify the eRepublik website is strictly prohibited".

That's laughable considering the media still has articles about scripts, and it's common knowledge that hundreds of people actively use scripts to automate fighting, feeding, scanning the markets, buying, bla bla. So when a script as simple as adding one on/off button to "fix" what the eRepublik moderators/admins don't, you can only wonder: what are they thinking?!

So here's to you, Plato: BOO! Look at my screenshot and see how the discontent players keep leaving the game. Keep up the great work, Plato! You'll manage to push more and more of us away like this.

PS: Stop whining that you can't control the press. You are a control freak, just like the rest of your friends that control everything in eRomania (with the use of multies, of course)

zmeule, n-am cum sa cred ca esti atat de prost incat sa crezi ce zici. E la mintea cocosului ca un buton pe care-l instaleaza si controleaza fiecare utilizator, individual, e fix optiunea fiecaruia, nu incercarea cuiva sa controleze ceva. Deci nu mai poza in halul asta, ca rad si clonele de tine.

My point of view

The problem isn't this d@mned change...it hasn't even been discussed before, or even tested to see if this is what the players want. There are a lot of other players who are also programmers....some of them are programming out of fun and even free. Most of the times they bring in thought scripting some good features (not speaking of autobots for eating, fighting, buying and many other "legal"/"illegal" features).

For example WoT: holy sh!t and flying f*cks how many "improvements" were to be found online AND FREE! After 3 years they have seen that they can't just ban/punish the people for using those mods, so they implemented that cr@p in the main game.

Plato, just look at this game....LOOK AT IT. ARE YOU PROUD? You are making us to make scripts so we can get along with your own changes (changes that a great part of the eRep community doesn't support). And for that you are punishing us? For wanting to play this game, as we (those who invest in this game) want? There are already some options to sort the news...why haven't you just added this "feature" as another option? Why can't you give the player the option to choose how they want to sort those news (importance, news about their MU/party, votes, comms, endorses and others)?

As for the FP...they are right. You can't encourage the community to use any mods for eRep... especially by publishing a article in erep and promoting it (free or not).

Btw. read the erep laws and terms of use carefully...unbelievable or not, they have the right to do anything, even if you haven't done a thing to them or against the rules, and you can't sue them or do anything against it. Welcome in eRep 2017 lads. Trump is a much better solution than this guy...

They might be right considering they have specific rules, but they are also terribly wrong considering how any people use scripts, mention them in the comments and media, and they still do nothing about it.

That means they actually accept the scripts, but because this one was born out of their lack of proper moderation it just had to go.

Can't argue with that but would you punish somebody who uses a script to CONSUME gold/cc -> to buy some gold with RL money or not? Then why punish that "good" script?

And I think it's not about the use of scripts, but the advertising made for it that got you FP'ed
