Plague of Apathy Rages in the eUSA
Maxmillian VonWillebrand
This may come to a surprise of many citizens of the eUSA, but would you believe that many citizens are inactive and are slowly dying off? And when this happens, these inactive, non-existent citizens inflate the population numbers in just about everything, except anything political. Go figure, a dead citizen is removed from a political party, but not a company... I never knew zombies worked, did you?
It seems to me that this is just another flaw in eRepublik that the ADMINS have seemed to neglect. I also came across in my researching of the eUSA that an average of 30% of citizens of most states are at or below 10 wellness. Take Hawaii, as of 1/9/09, has a population of 136. That would mean about 40 citizens are dying off and completely useless for any type of defense for Hawaii. They give a bonus to aid their Defense System and that is it. I am curious how a dead body helps with aiding a DS? I hope someone can explain this to me because I have not figured it out, unless the bodies are used in place of sandbags.
Here is what the eRepublik Wiki states happens when a citizens dies:
When your Citizen is dead (wellness = 0):
* if you are in a party, you are taken out of that party
* the gold and all the currencies still remain in your accounts and the company ownership remains.
* you will not receive any emails ( Turn off from Mail preferences )
* you are removed any from any list ( presidential candidate, congress election, party election)
You keep your job, newspaper, items, inventory, unlock feature, extra storage, company, messages, friends, and experience points.
I can understand the keeping of extra storage and experience because one is purchased with RL money and the other you gain through game play. Yet, if a citizen is dead, what are the chances the person will come back after 15+ days of inactivity? ANYONE?? I think a snowballs chance in hell is a good percentage to think of.
One small note for everyone to think on - Do you know what happens to a banned citizen? You would think that the citizen is removed and/or deleted from the citizen lists and removed from everything in the game, right? WRONG! The citizen still shows in the region’s ranking lists, holds their job, and stays with their political party (I only saw this last one once). I advise anyone doing data collection or simple research of anything in eRepublik to take it with a big bag of salt.
“Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows.”

REPOST!
actually no, I sent this article to 2 papers....
Why??
Not destroying your account if you become inactive is a good thing. Sometimes real life screws us up. Being able to go back to ones game after hardship, os simply playing another game is wonderful, especially in these hard financial times! People get sick, people divorce, people move, people loose their jobs, people deploy overseas, and maybe it could happen to you.
i wish we could make an eWill and last testament.
I thought about writing a will and putting it up in the contract section. As long as you get your beneficiaries to sign it, there's no reason you can't.
Makes sens to me. How about having something in our profile that we can add a citizen to be the one who gets everything if we die... That way the WILL is true and not a bunch of greedy people looking to cash in and bugging the admins.
@Vincent.. I sent this to 2 papers because neither may reach everyone...
Heh, well I am trying to build up my subscriber base so that the articles that do get published here WILL reach more people. Subscribe folx!!! Also, I need more reporters to generate more articles.
