Phoenix seizes initiative in Austria, cuts down land bridge in RW frenzy.

Day 861, 15:30 Published in USA USA by Sossu

After dangerously opening the land bridge established in Italy for Croatia to use, Phoenix has returned to master the situation after the Phoenix quartet bordering Croatia finally captured the initiative and started extensive attacks aiming to drive Croatia from Austria, a country they managed to completely annex.
At the same time Phoenix forces shattered the Spanish defences and liberated four more regions in occupied France and Germany, drastically reducing the chances for Croatia to ever enter Western Europe and possibly beyond as the key region of Lower Saxony and Bremen was liberated, creating a belt of German regions separating friendly territory from the occupation zone, and therefore closing the so called Northern route.

Croatia clings to a final region in Austria, loses everything else.

As expected, Croatia wasn’t able to keep the initiative against 4 countries at the same time, and after delaying the inevitable for 24h by attacking Germany, the loss in this sole border region meant that Germany quickly carried out a block, resulting in an immidiate Slovenian advance towards their lost region of Styria and Carinthia and Austrian border regions. Slovenia, who hastily wanted to carry out an attack on Polish fortress of Rhone Alps, retreated Styria and Carinthia for Croatia, most likely by accident as the region gave Croatia an option to carry out an invasion against Austria and the growing threat of Croatia exploiting the very same land bridge through Italy which Slovenia used, forced Phoenix to abort it and put plans to invade Rhone Alps to rest for a while.
Croatia then proceeded deeper in to Central Europe, invaded the defenceless Austria easily and wiped out Hungary’s buffer zone in the border of Austria at the same time. During this operation, Slovenia was kept blocked with constant attacks on their original regions, and Hungary and Serbia, most likely trusting Croatia would inevitably lose the initiative, refrained to attack very costly Croatian original regions, and in Serbia's case, tried not to launch the MPP with Poland.

However when Croatia proceeded to attack the Austrian regions bordering Germany, who declared war against Croatia during the first time Croatia tried to build a land bridge, Croatia was forced to attack Germany’s original region of Bavaria, and as this was the only German region in Croatia’s reach, losing to the invincible MPP😒 meant that the initiative switched to Germany after the battle, who lost no time with it and quickly RW+attacked the region of Vorarlberg, tying Croatia to a 24h block.
Croatia responded by succesfuly RW:ing all regions bordering Slovenia and Germany, and therefore they managed to preserve their precense in Central Europe as the region of Lower Austria remains in Croatian hands. All other regions who did not fall in the RW😒 initiated by Croats will be claimed by either Germany or Slovenia and will be most likely returned to Austria.

Croatia did however managed to erase Austria, but this has no strategical value at all. Phoenix managed to prevent the highly hypothetical situation of Croatia going through Italy, which would have been easily prevented by a simple succesful RW during the movement of Croatia. Croatia was also in a dead end after erasing Austria, so the whole plan of attacking the Hungarian regions in Italy was expired way before they even conquered the border region, as Phoenix decided to abort the land bridge by RW:ing Italian regions back to Italy This leaves the benefits of this conflict for both parties to be mostly entertaining only.
Phoenix did however got a new MPP-set against Croatia, but Germany will probably not use them as it would give a free war for Poland to attack them, and it would result in a new invasion.

Land bridge snaps as Phoenix RW😒 more key regions.

Phoenix mobile forces managed to liberate 4 German and French regions, most notable of them being Lower Saxony and Bremen as it isolates Croatia from Western Europe, if they would have decided to use the so called Northern route, or a route through occupied Germany. This was the most likely option when Eden controlled Czech Republic and the land connection was solid during the Eden invasion against Slovenia.
On that day Phoenix concentrated however to cut the land bridge by RW:ing Lorraine and other minor French regions instead of defending Slovenia. After that, Eden raised hopes to cross through Belgium, who refrained from signing MPP😒 with Phoenix. (or any other nation.) This did not however happen due to the failed invasion of Prekmurje and Slovenia regaining their regions back.
Now this option is completely erased as there is a wall of German regions separating Croatia from Belgium. Also with the significant help of foreign voters, Phoenix implemented a congress favoring them over Eden in Czech Republic, and they have signed extensive Phoenix MPP😒, so entering their regions has become impossible for Eden.

Therefore Croatia is left with only the Southern route through Italy and Spain, but this option slips away as Croatia is currently being defeated in Austria. Therefore I count the Croatian efforts to enter Asia to end for the third time and most likely for good. It’s time for Eden to start looking for new options to overthrow Phoenix’s colonies in Asia.

Phoenix won a valuable victory as they RW:d Piedmont, the region Eden fought hard to obtain, back to Italy in a ninja tank operation. Piedmont, being right next to Rhone Alps, was given to Spain after Poland conquered it from Slovenia to create a buffer zone and give an extra 24h of preparation time if Phoenix would try again to invade RA. Spain did not however paid enough attention to defend it as there were simultaneously half a dozen of other RW😒 going on, and Phoenix claimed the region, giving Slovenia the possibility to again swap right next to Rhone Alps and attack it instantaneously.

Overall the campaign in Austria has led to...

...nothing important and I wonder why I wrote such a long article explaining a situation which has no long-term effects. Guess I couldn’t stop myself.

I'm sorry but I can't publish the article about USA-Eden relations. I wrote 2 pages of bollocks until finally realizing the final article would be horrible. Also the congress of the United States has practically decided the matter already, so the article wouldn't give new ideas.
