PEACE or EDEN? None, thanks!

Day 713, 12:25 Published in South Africa South Africa by Ines Schumacher

I've been away for the weekend, but thought I'd add my two cents to the debate surrounding whether eSouth Africa should join PEACE or EDEN, thereby positioning itself in the upcoming World War: Revenge Edition.

Members of both People of Earth Associated under Common Excellence (PEACE) and Erepublik Defence and Economy Network (EDEN, with emphasis on the D it seems) seem to think their alliances are the be all and end all of all eRepublik alliances. They troll our articles and make threats and promises.

So let's all agree on something for the start: EDEN is basically a re-branded ATLANTIS, especially now that it has become known as EDEN+, which includes the USA.

As far as I remember, we threw ourselves at the mercy of ATLANTIS - more or less the same allies - and lost all our regions a few months ago. Super-alliances have a nasty habit of "forgetting" their smaller allies. They use them as distractions, gambling regions in order to win bigger, more important wars (more important to them that is).

Too often was I told during my term as RW leader: "We're too busy to read your message right now. Please leave another message and we'll get back to you later." These were the same allies who told us they would protect us during the war with Indonesia, PTO threats and also made loud noises about helping us regain our regions.

Of course I'm referring mainly to ATLANTIS right now. The only experience I've had with PEACE is as passive occupiers. They have shown no direct aggression towards me personally or to eSouth Africa in the time I have been RW leader and president and also into Steven's term.

Fast-forward to the present. I have no ill feelings towards either PEACE nor EDEN, both of which have betrayed us in different ways.

But let's look at this realistically. Statistically.

EDEN+ does roughly 341 million damage. PEACE does 508 million.

EDEN+ has a collective 331 000 strength. PEACE has nearly 500 000.

EDEN+ has 800 FMs. PEACE has over 1 100.

If push came to shove, I'd rather join PEACE.

But let's look at what Exilious is proposing. He (probably as an afterthought) is not saying let's join EDEN, he's saying let EDEN liberate our regions and we can claim innocence. Oh, masterful plan Exilious. Maybe you can say that A LITTLE LOUDER SO THAT PEACE CAN HEAR YOU! Oh wait, they have. So that's a no on the plan then?

Even just USA against Indonesia in a war of liberation will have USA draw the fail card.

Everyone knows my history. I was the resistance leader during the time eSouth Africa was wiped off the map thanks to a Brazilian PTO. We got our first region back through negotiation - no help needed from any super alliance. Just good old diplomacy and personal sacrifices from our citizens.

I need to express my pride in the people of our great little nation. The recent debates around whether or not to join EDEN (or get them to liberate us) have shown that we are sticking to the path we set ourselves long ago.

We have now successfully negotiated a two region return with eIndonesia in exchange for a non-aggression pact. So even if EDEN in all its selflessness liberates the oppressed and woeful nation of South Africa, we give the regions right back.

PEACE wants you to waste your gold EDEN, so how about you get off our backs for all our sakes.

Sorry this article ended up being slightly biased. In all my dealings with the various presidents of PEACE and EDEN and other leaders within the alliance, PEACE never deceived me as much as EDEN did.

Although some people may find it a bitter pill to swallow: PEACE has more honour than EDEN could ever muster. Even if (for example) the president of Indonesia was not going to negotiate with South Africa for regions, he was always courteous, honest and straight forward. In comparision, the president of USA strung me along and was often quite rude in speaking to me. The ambassadors were cool though. 😉

Like it or not, presidents represent a country and its people so I use them as direct examples of the way I view PEACE and EDEN.

Big up to our Sol alliance. South Africa has chosen neutrality and independence. I'm sorry Australia chose the path of no return - I really hope it works out for them.

So no thanks PEACE and EDEN. Have your grudge match by all means, but not in our backyard.
