Party President Manifesto, Irish Social Democrats

Day 722, 14:41 Published in Ireland Ireland by Starks Hayter

Hello Ireland,

For those of you who know me, no introduction is needed, for those who don't:

I have served 3 successful terms as Party President of the Irish Socialist Republican Party. During this time, party numbers remained static, but levels of activity reached an all-time high. In my second term, I led the party to achieve 14 candidates, making the ISRP the most represented party in Ireland, which still hasn't been beaten by the party (to my knowledge) today. In addition, I served 4 terms in congress, one term each as Minister of New Citizens, Information and Finance and Industry, and one failed term as President of Ireland.

Now, why am I running? I'm a little appalled to see that the party has fallen from its place as IUP's main competition, and a serious entity in the Irish political landscape. Yes, I admit that I was one of the causes to this decline, but that fact remains that my terms as Party President were successful. I would like to help lift the ISD to the level its predecessor once reached, and make ISD a serious party in Irish politics.

Here is my standing on various issues, as well as what I would like to achieve this term:
(Note that these are my personal standings on issues, and that I haven't had a lot of time to examine our current state of affairs. As a representative of the ISD, our actions would be formed by the beliefs of the party at large)

Party Unity/Activity
First and foremost, a discussion would be opened to gather the opinions of the party, and from this, a Party Manifesto should be published within a week of the new term. The position of Party Editor would be established to handle recruitment articles and other party publications. It is imperative to attract existing party members to the national and party forums, to discuss party issues. Discussion on different aspects will be encouraged to form united opinions on issues.

Economy
My opinion is that the State should firstly support the Irish worker, and secondly support the Irish company. In pursuing the current taxes set by the State, it seems they are doing just that in setting a higher import tax and a steady income tax; also I support a strong IEP against the Gold.

In addition, I would like to start a Party company, which would offer good jobs and discounted products to party members. A party member would be appointed to oversee these ventures.

War and Foreign Affairs
Very simple here, strongly support war-games, and firmly believe Ireland should remain neutral. I would support ties with countries in the spirit of the former Raleigh Treaty and Raleigh Alliance, but am against joining any formal alliance.

Let's get the average worker, editor and soldier heard, and give the ISD the support it desperately needs!

With Regards, eIreland,

Starks Hayter
