Part 2: The Economy

Before I start my article today, I would like to make a public request to whoever posted the advertisement: (Say NO to DIRTY Politics – Say NO to Derek Harlan😛 This election CPF/DAL will collude to install Derek Harland as President. Do not forget their ILLEGAL impeachment attempt and their attempts to divide us.) I admit, I got a pretty good chuckle out of it. The coward who hides behind his advertisements tries to bring a new level of dirty politics into things by bringing my name into the mix. The DAL support for the CPF (not the impeachment, mind you) was decided by our Party President, no one else. Whoever writes this advertisement needs to come out of the shadows and admit to who it was. Their was no reason for an attack ad on my name and an attack ad in general is dirty politics, the same thing you are trying to advertise against. Your hypocrisy amazes me, dear friend. I have never played dirty politics myself and I never will yet you not only play the cheap shot card, you hide behind the anonymity of eRepublik ads. Come out of the closet so we can discuss this maturely please.

To start the article, I would like to first announce that Acacia Mason will be my Vice-President. He is a very hard and active worker who only wants to help improve eCanada and only wants to bring unity to our country. I am very pleased to have him on board and I know we can do great things together. Today is part 2 of my platform process. Part 3 will be in the middle of next week most likely and will talk about v2 Preparation and what strategies my government will take to place. Today is an article about the economy. I will admit right away that I am not the best economist in eRepublik, not even close. But I have a supporting staff that will help me throughout the process and make sure our policies are implemented. Addy Lawrence is arguably the best economist we have in eCanada and he will be my Director of Finance again this term. The economic status of our country is one of rebuilding. We had an incredibly low recession a week ago but it seems there are signs of our country breaking out of it. V2 is approaching at a menacing rate and our citizens are getting prepared for the transition and the government will do so too. Here are a few main policies my government will have with regards to the economy:

1)Keep a steady currency and work with EDEN and the Brolliance to keep a tight spread between ours and theirs markets. eCanada has always been a rich nation full of resources but in the New World, not many of them are very useful towards the result of the game: war. We have 4 out of the 5 resources currently, with the most important one, iron, only being a medium productivity. With v2 coming we will have one of, if not the most important resource in the game: titanium. This is a great chance for eCanadian business and citizens alike to enjoy success and prosperity. With only 9 titanium regions in the New World, 7 excluding our regions, we will become a major exporter to other nations who need titanium to keep their armaments rising. By keeping a steady currency we will make sure our businesses know what their limits are to make a profit and will encourage foreign partners to buy eCanadian. If we keep the international and local spread of the currency close, it will allow eCanada to become a major exporting nation and will encourage our companies to export our resources to other countries. A smaller spread will only help our companies in the foreign markets and will help create an increased market for our products.

2)Build strategic reserves for v2. eRepublik recently created a hospital rule which allows citizens to only increase their wellness by as much as they fought. This meant no more fighting once at 60 wellness to bring it back to 100. Managing wellness becomes much more important now and we have seen the gift and food industries effects. The Canadian Health Services recently ran out of gifts to use on their clients and asked the government for increased funding. I want to make sure that we are prepared for v2 and I will start building a strategic reserve in preparation for v2. Especially in diamonds, and food so we can accommodate any needs we have. I want to make eCanada a military powerhouse and I will be advocating creating 1 or 2 more Q5 weapons companies in that we can use to employ the CAF or anyone else willing to work for cheap wages. In return, when v2 comes out, we will have a heavy stock of advanced weaponry that can be sold cheaply to our workers and that can dominate a battlefield. Diamonds will be essential for this process and we want to make sure we can keep up with our demand for this resource. Food will also be very important due to the increasing changes in hospital. The demand for this product has already gone up and when v2 arrives, it will become even more essential due to the hospital “area of effect” which means even if a province has a Q5 hospital, it may not be in use in some areas of the province. Wellness management will be vital to success and we will make sure our government can provide it at cheaper prices.

3)Give eCanadians a reason to buy products more. It is simple in this game. War drives the economy, it’s what brings prosperity to countries and gives citizens reasons to continuing playing this game. It is understandable why products are at such lows in terms of pricing. There is no reason to buy them simply. As I stated in my previous article, my main goal for the next term is to bring eCanada a real war that we can win and have some fun while doing so. The effects of an idle eCanada result in the French-English domestic war we have seen, impeachments and attacks. With war we will see an increased interest in the game from our citizens and also much more buying. The biggest example is the weapon industry. A week ago, prices were at rock bottom at around $1.50 CAD. Their has been improvement as prices are rising to around $2.50 CAD but it is still far below the normal $4-5 CAD we were used to. Without war, there was no reason for citizens to buy weapons and the demand dropped, leading to the prices being dropped to encourage buying. With war there will be increased purchasing across the board and we can keep the prices at an affordable amount while still able to benefit our companies.

4)As stated in my previous article, my support right now is for the argument to keep both titanium/diamond regions. I want eCanada to turn into a world power in both foreign affairs and on the battlefield. With our titanium regions we will be able to influence foreign discussion and more focus will be placed on our country in terms of trading and military action. We will also be able to mass produce tanks and helicopters at a cheaper price which will allow our citizens to use them more and dominate the battlefield. Selling off one region would bring us a lot of immediate gold but it is still not determined what the monthly tax income will be from our titanium regions. For the first month at least, we can’t trade the regions before getting a clear understanding of their benefits. I also could not sell off Canadian companies to a foreign country. People have spent hard-earned gold on these companies, gold saved up for months for the chance to be successful. With the titanium conversion, only more companies will be bought in both regions. Selling off a region will be a huge loss to anyone who invested money trying to help eCanada and start a business of their own. In conclusion, my support is to not sell any of our titanium/diamond regions.

This is the 2nd part of my platform and the 3rd and final platform will be posted shortly about v2 Preparation. In case you don’t want to read all of this, here is the tl:dr version:

1) Keep a stable currency and work with our allies to keep a tight spread between our markets so eCanada can grow into a more exporting nation.
2) Build strategic reserves for v2 to meet our citizens increasing demands.
3) Give eCanadians a reason to buy products through the implementation of a real war.
4) My support will be to the argument of keeping both titanium/diamond regions we have.

I will also post the French edition of this either tomorrow or Monday. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave me a PM or write a comment and I will be happy to answer them.

Sincerely,
Derek Harland
