Interview with the new Green Liberal Democrats Party President (EXCLUSIVE)

Today, through official election that was only ceremonial: Pander Sols has been re-elected into the office after a short absence. GLD Informer managed to snag a little of his time, while he was busy decorating his new office to ask some questions to our new Party President.

GLD Informer (GLDi): First of: congratulations, you deservedly ran alone for president. Can you tell us a little bit about the way you see your duties as a PP?

Pander Sols (PS): Thank you very much! I am honoured that I've once again been given the opportunity to be PP of this party. In my opinion, the main duties of a PP are to manage the different team roles within the party and to think together with all the members which direction we'll take as a party. Also, the PP is the person who is the contact/actuation point in our contacts with other parties and their members.

GLDi: Now there are a lot of new players into eRepublik, could you explain in little detail why Green Liberal Democrats are a good choice to join?

PS: First of all the GLD focusses a lot on investing in new players. Before the merger between eBelgium and eNetherlands, we were both rather small and unsignificant countries, together we are stronger and we're able to play a bigger role in world politics. However, what eUNL needs is even more players and preferably more active players. Only with a lot of active players, the economy can grow stronger and politics will become more diverse and attractive. The recent babyboom is therefore something we welcome very much and we will do our best to encourage everyone to evolve, both ingame and in the community.

Second, and this somewhat relates to the point above, we encourage entrepreneurship and our local economy. This is an essential link in the process of growth and the becoming of a strong, independent nation. In recent times the GLD has already succeeded in making our taxes more 'business-friendly', the next step will be to decrease the level of influence of state-companies and encourage eUNL citizens to start their own companies (and also not rely on foreign businesses). And again, the recent babyboom has caused a magnificent raise in demand for both goods and skilled workers, so the economical environment is already on it's way to develop a vast improvement.

Last, GLD has always worked on making the government transparent and open. We strive for a situation in which all citizens know what their government is doing and why. Improving government transparancy means on the other hand also; making politics accessible for all citizens, so that everybody's voice can be heard. Part of this is encouraging people to visit the eUNL forum (http://www.enetherlands.nl) and to have an active role in both country and party politics.

GLDi: And why not join LSD or BP? Surely they are the biggest parties around?

PS: I cannot really say why you shouldn't join another party. Most parties in our country consists of both skilled and pleasant people and I respect them very much. We've always worked together with them in the best possible way, and there's a great deal of mutual respect between the parties.

What I can say in favour of the GLD, is that we are a party for everybody; we have both very experienced and very inexperienced members, we have members from the eUNL (both French and Dutch speaking), United Kingdom, France and even Iceland. And the best thing is; we're all working together on our future and everybody is equal. That is also why it is not difficult to play a role of importance in our party: if you have the qualities and drive to succeed, it doesn't matter how long you've been playing or where your roots lie. Quality is shown only through action.

GLDi: Without turning this interview into history lesson 101, could you shed a bit of light on the roots of this party, how did it come to exist?

PS: The Green Liberal Democrats was founded a couple of months ago by a man named Peter Green. With him as our leader, the GLD saw a rapid increase in numbers, resulting in becoming the fourth biggest party in eUNL. The first congress-elections in which we could partake became a great success; we entered congress with no less than six members and we were invited by BP to take place in the government. After that, Peter Green dissappeared mysteriously and the party was left to be lead by others. We entered a somewhat difficult period, with decreased activity by our party-members and resulting in dissappointing elections last month, but right now we're back and we're here to stay.

GLDi: One last question, if you would be president of this country, where do you think the top priorities should be?

PS: Well, I would obviously like to work on some of the points we find important as a party, but as president your priorities should concern ALL citizens in the eUNL. Party politics should be left to the parties. Right now, the main tasks of the president should be to make sure all new citizens can feel at home, and that all citizens, be it Belgian or Dutch, can live together in harmony in the eUNL. Another thing of great importance to do as the president, is to maintain good relations with our allies in PEACE, so that the position of our country in this turbulent world will continue to be stable and safe.

GLDi: Well thank you for your time, it has been quite interesting. Good luck with your new term and let's keep our fingers crossed for a bigger influence in congress come next elections.

PS: Thank you for the interview. I sure hope to see a bigger GLD in congress next time too, ofcourse. I know we're on the right path right now, with so many members already doing so much work for the party. Everybody really deserves a big compliment for all that. Well done people!
