Orders for Day 1294: Ignore the Slovenian invasion and rather wait and see if any of our allies need any help later on. Fight against Slovenia at last login if nothing else happens.

I have mentioned this in previous articles, but I have been questioned about my silence concerning the invasion by Slovenia nonetheless. The answer is simple: I do not believe that there is a point in fighting back at the time. The Resistance War in Deustchschweiz a few days ago was launched in order to secure us enough time to hold our presidential elections before the inevitable annexation by Slovenia—this goal has been reached, and the possession of a third region granted us enough time to survive until the successful inauguration of Penguin4512.

We do not stand a chance against the united force of Slovenia plus the 12 allies they have; even if we managed to win a battle, we would be worn out soon enough and be conquered. This is, for now, inevitable. Instead of wasting our resoruces and energy on a futile defence (that would not even have any symbolic value, since our successful Resistance Wars have proven that we can fight if we want to), I believe it is wiser to direct our manpower to our allies in need. Their battles actually have a meaning, and their achievements are likelier to last for more than a day or two.

Besides, the current situation in Italy would not permit us to survive anyway. We are seeking negotiations woth Macedonia, but we nonetheless need a restored and strengthened Italy between us and Slovenia before we can even hope for a longer lasting peace. Fighting for a short-lived, fickle independence now is meaningless. We must instead observe the political situation around us, seek diplomatic contacts with present and possible future allies, and support those from whose strength we will eventually benefit.
Before the congress elections later this month, we will be back on the map. Resistance Wars are an effective tool against a country of moderate strength such as Slovenia which is prone to over-stretching its boundaries and to relying solely on their allies to win in open wars. Until the time is right, however, we will suffice ourselves with a government in exile and the preparation of future operations.
