one more run - SCRABMAN / MOISHE

Day 545, 23:48 Published in USA USA by scrabman

I've had a lot of people asking me to run for one more term as the eUSA President. When I started this term I had a few things to wrap up, a major military operation that was in the works and almost ready to launch, and high hopes for where the eUSA was headed. I still have those high hopes even though the major military operation was unsuccessful in one sense ... in another it was very successful in showing what our nation is capable of for the impressive amount of damage we did ... thanks to the 2 months of war games and our economic boom through our first-ever Federal budget and responsible spending.

It is that point that makes me heed the call of many to run for a 3rd term as the eUSA President with my running mate VP Moishe. This term Moishe has been working to reform the Army while I've been working on the eUSA's status in the global community. I think that we've seen our relations with our neighbors and allies improve dramatically overall. We have a multi-national war games working between Ireland and the USA with 16 participating nations. We have grown strong and prosperous.

We still have a difficult task ahead of us. The ATLANTIS alliance is crumbling now that Romania has decided to stop playing the game on the world level. Today I formally announced that the eUSA is considering departing from the ATLANTIS alliance and it is my intention to take the eUSA to neutral status so that we can be rid of all of the cumbersome rules of the ATLANTIS Treaty that require us have to be neutral in the Sweden - Germany conflict among other things. Going neutral will require strong leadership and someone who is accustomed to working with the various world leaders who make up the existing alliances of eRepublik. Further, my Deputy Secretary of State Harrison Richardson has been the point man on this project as well as being instrumental in putting together the USA - Ireland War Games.

Additional members of my staff are crucial to what is developing in the world and in establishing the new position for the eUSA as a world leader independent of the existing alliances. It takes resolve to make the first steps toward something new. In fact, it is my hope to eventually form a new coalition of nations with similar interests. This would not be an alliance meant to rival the current ones ... but something new.

In my mind, what we will eventually need is a new alliance that meets the following conditions:
1) is not centered around one nation but is based upon equal contribution;
2) is not simply anti-PEACE but concerned with a broader range of issues; and
3) is concerned with protecting the interests of its members through military, economic and diplomatic means.

Whatever it becomes (or whether we join some other new alliance) I believe that I should try to see it through to its end if the voters will have me. Thus, I throw my hat in that ring one more time as a Presidential candidate. It is my hope to take the eUSA to this new level of world involvement and then step down as I will have achieved all of the things that I have set out to achieve in my term as President of the United States of America.
