On the Strained Military vs. Politico Relations

Well would you just look at that butterfly

Seriously though, that time has come again where we are in the midst of a giant military vs. Politico fight. These fights happen every so often, usually due to a strain in relations somewhere along the lines. In response to this, I would like to offer up some of my thoughts on issues that we face here and I hope they won't fall on deaf ears. Who knows we may even get some change to happen 🙂.

President and Congress are greater than JCS- This is not because I like the President and Congress over the JCS, it is merely because that is what game mechanics dictates. The JCS is something we created and only exists because we say it does. On the other hand, the President and the Congress exist because the admin says they do and that is a big difference. The President and Congress have buttons, the JCS does not. Buttons always trump no buttons end of story.

The JCS and military should continue to exist- The military is a great retention tool for this game, and is perhaps the best we have. Likewise, the JCS is made up of good military minds who have been around awhile and can serve in an advisory capacity to the President. Most Presidents do not come from strong military backgrounds and the JCS is needed to advise them on such matters.

The JCS should be financially accountable to someone- In my opinion, the military should know how much damage each branch can give and should then request funding according to that. It should not just be a "give us gold" kind of thing. There has to be evidence that the amount of Gold requested is actually needed. If those figures are not made public, then that is fine. I understand there is the need to keep most of that data hidden. However, Congress and the President should know in private why they are giving out a particular amount of Gold . If this is already being done then I apologize, but from the things I have read today it doesn't look like it is.

Most of us are roleplaying idiots- Besides Party Presidents, Congressmen, and the President none of us have any special buttons, and likewise we are not special. We are all just roleplayers who create positions to make ourselves feel important. There should be no difference between a o7 and a DIO post, and likewise no one should be discriminated against for posting either. They are just stupid forms of roleplay. To the military, you are not in the the real life military (at least most of you aren't) so STFU and stop pretending like you are. You do not lay your life on the line in this game and there is no blood or sweat poured over it. You click a button a few times a day that is all. To the politicians: We suck, we have no real power and we beat off to whatever fictional job someone provided to us and we act like we have authority. We need to get off of our high horses and stop dicking around.

JCS/CJCS should be chosen by the military but should have term limits- I am not going to sit here and say that the JCS should be chosen by the people, because frankly the people would have no idea who and who hasn't done a good job. The military knows that and likewise they should chose their own leaders, just like the President choses his own cabinet. However, there should be limits to how long someone should serve, and if it is collectively agreed by the JCS that someone isn't doing a good job then they should be removed. Just like the President removes cabinet members if they suck.

Well that is all the ranting I have for now, and I hope you enjoyed. Feel free to PM me or post in the comments to state your own opinions if you think mine suck. In the end though lets not try to take anything to seriously as we are playing a game after all. Until next time....

Stay thirsty my friends,
