Join the new world

Liebe Oesterreicher,

I would like to begin by congratulating all of the new members of the Austrian Congress. I would also like to urge you all to make a donation of two or more gold to the Austrian Central Bank so that our nation has the financial resources that it needs to meet the challenges of the next month. In these times of trouble, our nation is in desperate need of any currency that we can acquire in order to sign MPP’s, start battles, and to provide both weapons and food to the men and women in our forces. Therefore, I strongly urge anyone who was just elected to do the honorable thing and donate a minimum of two gold to the Austrian Central Bank without delay.
For those of you who are interested, the results of the election by political party were as follows:

Neue Oesterreichische Allianz: 9
Osterreich Independence Party: 7
Sozialistische Partei : 6
Kronloyale Union: 6
Allianz Starkes Osterreich: 2

On a different (but equally important) note, as most of you are well aware, our nation finds itself in a truly desperate position. We currently have only two of our eight regions, Vorarlberg and Tyrol. In recent days, I have seen many people talking about how we need to recover our lands from the Italians. However, that is a nearly impossible task given the current state of affairs in both Austria and the greater eWorld. So long as we remain outnumbered our chances of winning eight mini-battles is, sadly, not particularly likely. It has been a constant struggle for our armed forces to win even one or two rounds against the full might of the Italian Army and their Eden allies. Unfortunately, this situation is not likely to change overnight and means that the only way that we can hope to achieve victory is through careful organization and strategy, the use of diplomacy and the signing of MPP’s with nations that are committed to helping restore the sovereignty of a neutral Austria.

As the Presidential Elections draw nearer, it is my hope that the nation will find a crop of strong, independent minded leaders who are willing to do the hard work necessary to save our nation and restore our full independence. It will not be an easy task, but I trust that the people of Austria have at least one such leader waiting in the wings to take up this challenge and restore the honor, integrity and independence of Austria.

As time has shown, Austria is constantly under threat from outside forces. For the most part, our actual alignment has not changed the fact that we are constantly threatened by military destruction and PTO. Therefore, it is my hope that as we move forward, we do so with the end goal of re-establishing the neutrality of our former days. If alliances aren’t able to save us from the PTO’s and invasions, then why compromise our own vital interests in the name of the “safety” which the super alliances claim they can provide. Let’s be different, let’s forge a third path and show the nations of the eWorld that Austria cannot be bullied into their alliance system. A neutral Austria at the heart of a warring Europe can be the light in a world that has been engulfed by the dark forces of greed, militarism and chaos.

If we stand for neutrality, we are demonstrating to the world that we are not merely a part of the herd. We are a nation of morals and high principles which will not blindly follow others into the fight. We will stand by our friends, but we will not be afraid to tell them that imperialism, just for the the lulz and unprovoked attacks on smaller countries, just because you can are wrong. It is not might that we should follow, but right. And on that note, I leave you all to think about what kind of Austria it is that you would like to see emerge from darkness of occupation. Will it be an Austria which blindly follows the orders of Phoenix or Eden? Only to be thrown under the bus by these same nations when a more important region is attacked at the same time that one of our less strategically important ones falls prey to an attack. Or will it be an Austria which is neutral and willing to work with any nation which has been wronged by a neighbor or simply wishes to live in peace without the constant threat of Invasion, PTO and Counter PTO.
