On the economy / Auf die Wirtschaft
stancel
I read OmuNegru9's articles on the economy in response to the tax changes. I don't discuss things like the Monetary Market, taxes or companies often, but I've learned some things.
When I proposed new taxes for food to Congress two months ago, I did so in the face of a rampant refusal for the government to spend. I wanted more MPPs, but I ran into the same wall: "We can't afford it".
The food taxes at the time were:
Income tax: 5%
Import tax: 50%
VAT: 5%
Here is what I had proposed to replace them:
Income tax: 15%
Import tax: 99%
VAT: 10%
I knew that VAT should be lower than the income tax. This is because VAT is a tax on products that are bought. Its effect is on the average consumer (worker).
So let me clear that up. I do not favor higher taxes across the board. The current 10% income, 80% import, 2% VAT tax on food is much better than the one proposed earlier which had 20% VAT. I am sorry for stating my support for it. I would not support high VAT taxes. Import taxes should be high, but only for goods where there is a great deal of production.
I think that the Austrian Central Bank should own companies. These state companies would provide revenue for the state. This is a way for people to contribute to the state's projects (infrastructure such as defense systems and hospitals, MPPs).
As for the monetary market, that could indeed by fixed by the efforts of the ACB. The Austrian Central Bank could sell gold at a lower price forcing others to lower their prices. You can buy 59 ATS for 1 gold on the MM but if you buy 1 gold it costs 63 ATS.
The new ministry proposal I support. I would call it the Ministry of Economic Development. Ministry of Finance would be merged into the new ministry, which would manage all economic matters. However, there can be others, Assistant Ministers if the job is too big for one person.
DEUTSCH:

The thing is, the gov needs gold. There aren't offers for gold and we don't have a lot in the treasury. We can't make the offers on the MM case we don't have the gold to offer.
Government run comps wouldn't do us a whole lot of good unless they're doing one of two things: exporting or existing in another country altogether. Having gov run comps outside of Austria wouldn't really make much sense. And getting responsible comps that export that are privately run and invested in the future of Austria would be just as good as running our own comps. That's what I'm working toward right now.
Also, I've invited a few knowledgeable Austrians who are aware of the issues to discuss tax rates. I will be looking for consensus among them and a way forward.
Thank you.
Excellent article, comrade stancel. Me wants moar of this.

I think that the Austrian Central Bank should own companies. These state companies would provide revenue for the state. This is a way for people to contribute to the state's projects (infrastructure such as defense systems and hospitals, MPPs). we have a too low population (dont look at the temporary boost we have now). Usually we are 300 something, with half of them actives.
If you open gov companies in every sector, this will mean government will take all the workers available, that means socialism.
That also means that the government should support all the expanses of salaries and so on. Look at the theocrat nation. They could not efford it.
You want to open hospital or defense system gov owned? We had one in the very old times. But, guess? we didnt have enough construction workers to run it efficiently.
All in all, your idea is attractive, but not appliable in eAustria, and maybe in any country of the eWorld.
I'm heeeeeeeeeeere...
