On The Brink Of War: CONGRESSMEN VOTE YES

Day 1,154, 09:34 Published in New Zealand New Zealand by WahooBob

This is a Weekend Update Special Announcement

Australia has proposed for New Zealand to be their Natural Enemy, the vote is currently set to pass around 23:30 tonight.

New Zealand responded by also proposing Australia as their Natural Enemy, but the vote is currently NOT PASSING. There is still time to turn that around.

It will be VERY important that this law pass, otherwise Australia will have a 10% bonus against us in the war, and we will not.

The Natural Enemy law, like an impeachment, must have a 66% majority to pass. Most other laws need only 51%. If passed, the Natural Enemy cannot be changed again for a week. If the proposal fails, a new proposal can be made immediately.

More details to follow later this afternoon, as they arise.

Update at 14:30 (Day 1157):
Well there are just too many "No" votes to pass. It once again looks like the Aotearoa faction will be setting military policy for the entirety of New Zealand with closed-door meetings and little transparency. It's just something to think about as the Congress elections approach.

It appears that we will be participating in a land swap with Australia. According to an article just published by Welshlad (our MoFA), the objective is to gain a Cattle region in Tasmania, but it will result in us losing Otago. Comments from our president indicate we may also lose Canterbury. Losing both would result in a 25% drop in productivity for Iron companies. We will be expected to conduct Resistance Wars from within Australia at some point.

Meanwhile, Bass Junkie, a former Australian, reports that the Aussies are looking for a real war, jot just a land swap. That surprise twist may prove to make Aotearoa look pretty silly for trusting them. With our "staunch ally" Serbia busy defending Iran from the United States, New Zealand could well be in big trouble.

In other news,

I found a pretty cool article about a contest in Poland. From what I can tell, you pay a 2 PLN entry fee and then make your own music video. Post it on Youtube, and the winner will get a large cash prize along with the option to participate in future contests without paying the fee. Get the details here.

And in the Ukraine, a Poker tournament with several options for level of play.
