On Neutrality and Nonalignment

Day 887, 21:35 Published in USA USA by Myles Robinson

There have been accusations made lately that the United States is, like Singapore, a "neutral" nation. Ever since we departed from the eRepublik Defense and Economic Network our critics have used this to justify slights made against us and to demean the foreign policy of our nation. This accusation is based on some confusion about the peculiar foreign policy that the United States has been pursuing for much of the past month.

The eUSA is not a neutral nation. We do not just sit around doing nothing and never fighting or talking to anyone. That makes the game boring.

We have foreign policy goals. We have friends and we have enemies. We have our bros. No, the United States is not a neutral nation. We are merely non-aligned with the bureaucratic, foreign policy-restricting superalliances. This does not mean, however, that we cannot work with them towards any mutual goals. It merely means that we are not restricted to blindly following the decisions of other countries that may have foreign policy goals opposed to our own. This grants us freedom to act in the best interests of our nation.

However, this does not mean we are completely non-aligned. We love our Bros, and would do anything for them. We love Australia, Ireland, and Japan. We love Canada so much that they live inside of us. If anyone messes with the bros, they mess with us. We share special relations with other individual nations, and would like to continue to keep those relationships.

Again, we are not neutral. Our non-alignment allows us to act independently. This means that one day people of our nation can justly criticize Poland for what was, in our opinion, a foreign policy blunder, and the next I can sit down and have a civil conversation with our Polish counterparts when we have a similar international concern, such as the chaos that has recently engulfed the world. We have goals, and we will work with nations that help us pursue those goals, regardless of their international affiliation. We will fight those nations who oppose our goals or threaten the security of our nation or our friends. To achieve these goals successfully, though, it will take clear communication and coordination with those nations who do have the same objectives as the United States.

We want to, first and foremost, protect our territory and the territory of our Bros from invasion. We want to see our friends like China, South Africa, and Australia have control over the fate of their original territories again. We want to continue working with our Indian friends to secure Karnataka, a territory that we pay for based on what price we negotiate with India. We want nations like North Korea, Peru, Thailand, and India to stop facing constant (and often successful) PTO attempts. We want Croatia and Greece to know that we love them. We like to see international leaders who threaten us, even mockingly, given the boot. And we'd like to let the world know that our Spai is way cooler than spy wannabe.

Any nation that opposes us in these endeavors we will fight, regardless if they are in Phoenix, EDEN, Sol, the Entente, or whatever new large alliances creep out on the world stage. Any nation that can help us towards accomplishing whatever foreign policy priorities this nation sets we will work with, regardless of international affiliation. If any nation has their own concern and wants help, we will lend them an open ear and consider if it is within the best interests of our citizens and/or our friends to help. We will stand by our Bros no matter what. And we are not joining Phoenix; they are fighting our friends and allies across the globe, and we will fight them for that, and will continue to do so for as long as they continue to hold regions from our friends. If an eUS ever joined Phoenix without them changing their ways, then I can assure you that I would have nothing to do with such a government.

As a postscript, I think calling Singapore neutral is misleading too, because they are definitely a threat to MONTANA and harboring international terrorists.
