eUSA Presidential Election Results
President scrabman has succeeded in securing his third term in the eUS elections. Out of 3382 voters during this election cycle, nearly 50% voted for scrabman. Kyle321n had a very strong showing, trailing scrabman by only 272 votes.

Election Results from eSpain
This election cycle, eSpain was successful in pooling together as a unified government against the threatened Hungarian political takeover in the Spanish election by throwing support toward one candidate, Charrito, who was able to secure 999 votes with nearly 79% of votes cast, foiling the possibility of any PTO attempt. While eRepublik only allows 1 person to president, Charrito will celebrate Spain’s victory in a “triumvirate” representing 3 Spanish political parties, and 3 “co-presidents” who will also consist of Durruti and Siddy. We look forward to our continued great relationship with our trusted ally. Viva espana!

Election Results from eIreland
In the eIreland elections, we are pleased to congratulate Nithraldur in winning his reelection, winning by 18 votes. We look forward to a continued growing friendship with eIreland and wish the people of eIreland prosperity and success!

Elections Results from eIndonesia
In the presidential election of eIndonesia, the subject of a political takeover attempt from Romania and former ATLANTIS allies, a lot of PEACE would-be PTOers seemed to have stayed in eIndonesia so that they would not be taken over themselves. Indonesia was successful in electing Masila as their president, with the Indonesian Defensive Socialist party remaining in power. Some may see it as a failure but, if enough PEACE voters were concerned enough to stay home to vote instead of participate in a PTO of our allies while they also got to choose their own candidate, then we can say that this was a success.

Reduction of Import Taxes on Moving Tickets
In an Election Day passage, Congress has voted in favor of lowering import taxes to 1% on moving tickets to promote trade among allies and foster an economic relationship with other countries, which will set a precedent for the future alliances of eUSA.

OMAE PRESEDINTE!
Second and voted.
yep.. is voted
4th. Congratulations Scrabman. Kyle, I think we still love you and won't disown you, but you'll win it next month anyway, so why bother.
5th congrats to scrabman 😃
its June 6th not 2nd... are we are not on The Island
Lowering all of the import taxes is the WORST idea ever. Here is my prediction of what will happen. We will be flooded by cheap goods, forcing prices and wages down. It's Great Depression time here in the eUSA!
If the cost of living goes down but wages go down at the same time, we're fine.. the only negative is (a little bit of) money flowing out of the country.

Congratulations America, we are heading towards Monarchy.
Vote for Scrabman for the fourth and fifth and sixth and tenth time.
Go Free American Monarchy!!! Go Liberal Democratic King!!!
May our new Alliance fall and may America lose hard in battles again as it did during the King Scrabman's Rule.
PS: And look at American King's photo ID, especially those long ears and haircut.
***FBI walks in and arrests Smirnoff. Then tortures him in a secret prison in Afghanistan***
Uhhm. I meant I love American King's photo ID. In fact I am going to make plastic surgery and soon I will look like another non-feeling monkey with long ears.
Hey, Masila had enough of a lead for PEACE citizens to go and do PTO if so they wished! But we did not! For example me and several buddies were online in the last hour of elections and could have influenced the elections in some country with a close competition, like let's say the eUK or eAustralia, but we did not. Because we don't care to PTO random innocent countries or interfere with their political lives.
In case you don't know official PEACE ATO instructions ordered to support Albert Neurath in eThailand despite the goon-force consisting of citizens of a PEACE nation (eIran). So don't try to make us look bad so you look good in comparison. There's plenty of wrongful acts on the eUSA record and by living in denial and finding excuses you're not going to change that - only continue suffering for participating in others' sins.
Stupid!!! Did we get any trade barrier reductions in return? These press releases are useless political crap.
Reduction of Import Taxes on Moving Tickets
In an Election Day passage, Congress has voted in favor of lowering import taxes to 1% on moving tickets to promote trade among allies and foster an economic relationship with other countries, which will set a precedent for the future alliances of eUSA.
Congrats to Scrab and Bastion.
In other election news, Germany was PTO'd by an undercover Swedish spy who had lived there 5 months to gain Germany's trust. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/the-manchurian-candidate-or-germany-here-today-gone-tomorrow-822694/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/the-[..]1/20
Sorry to spam, but I think it's an interesting story.
As he put it in his own article, "I have, under my time in Germany, had the pleasure of meeting some very good people. I will not name anyone, mainly for their own sake, as they might be targeted by the horde of accusators after this is done, but I know who they are..
Either way, I am sorry how this went down, but I do what I must for my motherland, Sweden."
As reported by Jon Barack Bluejacket. You can get his admission from the link above.
Nothing good happens anymore
While I recognize that encouraging trade with other nations is important, I don't really think that reducing the import taxes is a good way to foster new American businesses that are having rough times right now, due to salary inflation while the price for goods remains low. Bringing in foreign competitors simply means more cheap goods to plummet profits even further... and if salaries won't drop now, why would they then? I would actually be interested in hearing any information your economic advisors have regarding this situation.
Aerofluff -
This was not a random act of congress. This decision was made after extensive discussion with many economic minds such as One Eye and Publius. The conclusion is that real-life fears come into eRep which don't have a bearing on game mechanics. We are in the process of setting up an alliance and the nations that will be in the new alliance are following suit. Even before congress passed this, eSpain for example has lowered tariffs on everything except iron to lower than ours. Our new alliance will not be only military; it will be strengthened as a trade alliance as well.
This whole trade/military alliance is a fool's errand, which comes out of a basic misunderstanding of game mechanics. This free trade crap is born out of arrogance. This is the problem with one party rule. United States Worker's Party?!! This supposed Worker's Party and their allies in congress are selling the eAmerican worker down the river.
Wages and prices do NOT go down at the same rate. We have less buying power here in the eUSA than almost anywhere else in the New World. Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe me. I don't care if these new tax policies were supposedly well thought out, that does not make them any less wrongheaded. Deflation in any reality for a prolonged period of time is a BAD thing.
We should have our import taxes at a rational 50% for everything except iron, of course, which should stay at 1% for obvious reasons. This would allow our team to lower income taxes to a more reasonable 15% or so. Now, this would be a rational policy that would allow us to progress beyond 4th place in this game. While we're at we should probably raise minimum wage and devalue the currency to around .016 gold, but these are discussions for another day.
The new taxes are already hurting my ticket business. Foreign companies have flooded the markets, driving taxes to numbers that have me barely breaking even after paying my employees and purchasing oil. Another problem is that I can't export, due to the fact that every other nation has ridiculous import taxes. Not to mention the high income taxes aren't helping. If things don't change by congressional election time, I'll be forced to shut down and perhaps put companies in foreign countries.
If this is true that this "alliance" will be working together on trade issues, why haven't we seen them lower taxes on their end yet?
Also, congrats to scrabman and Bastion. I did not vote for you (surprise, surprise), but wish you the best in the next month. Do us proud!
Mr. Turetzky -
I have entered the government with preconceived ideas but also brought an open mind. Some of what I had thought had changed after seeing logical arguments and supportive data presented during the debating process. I suggest that you run for congress next term and be ready to debate with solid data if you disagree.
Mr. Jenkins - "Foreign companies have flooded the markets" - I just checked and, in the Top 10 moving ticket companies, there is only 1 foreign company with 5 tickets on the market, with several Amereican companies with better offers because eUS oil is second only to eSpain as being the least expensive in the world. There are people who own businesses that have debated this and realized that reducing import taxes brings very minimal foreign competition as opposed to 0% competition whatsoever before reduction of tariffs. I myself was initially opposed to reducing FG taxes to 1% before seeing the data. The competition you are currently facing is among other eUS companies, not because "foreign companies have flooded the market".
Interesting
nice article! voted
PTO operation was a success. None of our allies or friends had any PTO's succeed against them because they were to busy defending against us! That will teach them to PTO helpless countries. They will think twice next time!
PTO in the world =
PTO at home 😉
Lowering the import tax while not receiving the same benefit in other countries will only hurt those who live here.
If you really want to help the people in the eUSA, lower the income tax!
Mr mjvd-
We shall see what we shall see as things progress. Mark my words, the purchasing power of eAmericans WILL go down. As for congress, I think I'll have MUCH better luck agitating from the outside than joining that den of fools and thieves!
