New Features! | Headline Story | Keeping Them Honest | To do List

6 October, 2009, Day 686 of the New World - With the hacking of President Gaius Julius on election day, battles ranging from Mexico to the United Kingdom, The Report changing its format slightly, and a new program to be launched, this issue of The Report will be filled with more stuff than your mother after her birthday.

New Features!

Following a large amount of positive feedback and no negative commentary on our last issue's topic of introducing a navigational tool for Report readers, we now have the premier launch in today's issue. This is still in beta so all feedback is greatly appreciated! We sided against the "Table of Contents" format used in other competing papers such as the White House Press Releases due to it taking up a lot of vertical room - something we hoped to reduce.

Found in Polish Media as a "secret" war plan...

Add to this our new banner to compliment the Keeping them Honest and To do List sections, titled Headline Story. This is to give our readers a way to quickly jump to the story which was included in the title of the article as well as to allow them to cut out all the in between. Hopefully this is well received, because if not our Senior Correspondent Michael Hunt will be sent on a three-day suspension for designing the feature. A new feature is also being explored, to be coined "Moment of Zen," which will be a button to link to a YouTube.com video or photograph for pure entertainment - such as the picture above.

Our last public opinion was an amazing success, and we will make it a tradition now to hold such polls in every issue of The Report to gauge public opinion and sentiments. The Report is read by all walks of e-life, American and foreign, government and citizens. Therefore it seems practical to have such polling conducted to get a fair sample and get it to the masses quickly. On a final note, The Report's most recent poll will always appear in the To do List.

Gaius Julius Hacked

Today, President Gaius Julius and Vice President Jewitt would like to personally thank three individuals for their outstanding performance during yesterday's hacking. The Report's own Multimedia Manager, WahooBob, Chief of Staff PigInZen, and Former President Emerick quickly took charge of damage control and got the word out about the hacking and made preparations via admin support tickets and open letters. WahooBob personally contacted Vice President Jewitt to alert him of the attacks, in which Jewitt immediately redirected the comments to Gaius Julius. With Gaius Julius's cellphone he logged into the IRC and had an admin suspend his account for the day and to pause the battles.

Within a few hours after the government being alerted, the battles were closed. After a few hours of talks with the admin, Gaius Julius would have his account reopened just this morning - which it has been opened and he has been actively logging in throughout the day. The hacker was unknown, although a similar situation occurred just last month in Romania with President sebahman. A question in this issue's Public Opinion Poll addresses this issue.

Gaius Julius has since returned to using an encrypted password, but this time it would be much longer character wise. Many other government and military officials with high clearance to state secrets have also taken up this policy of account security. A warning to all: Have randomized characters in your password, with it being no less than ten characters in all. Do not have full words mentioned in your password, as that is a method for infiltration. Also, President Julius's password was not 123456 like some have speculated, but they are close.

» Congress is up to discussing market regulation in the public view. The debate stems from the need to take some of the products on the market off of it to keep businesses running healthy in our overproduction abroad. It has been met with mixed reviews. The Economic Council has yet to make an official recommendation on the subject.

» A topic has come up that is slightly controversial with real-life Americans, and that is whether or not voting records should be mandatory or voluntary. The opposition, lead by Publius, argues that few even look at voting records when voting, and most voters only notice the party symbol next to the candidate's name.

» The Department of the Interior will begin work on renewing the Mentor Program and getting the popularity of Meals on Wheels back up to par. The issue of the U.S. Training Division may be solved as political parties will be taking up the blunt of the work with "Party Training Divisions" or some similar variant. The mission statement will remain the same; to instruct how to properly wage warfare and answer questions about the war module.
