Official Opening of National Forum

Good evening Ireland!
Today I and Punistick announce the official opening of our new national forum. Punistick put in the most effort of designing the forum from scratch and credit is due. I’ve been appointed admin along with Punistick and if you are not happy to have me as Administrator, feel free to say so.
I'm in the process of gathering a moderation team consisting of one person from the top 5 parties. I have a few nominees from the Party Presidents and waiting on acceptence.
Why do we need a national forum?
Good question. I was fairly critical of national forums as we have a reputation of neglecting forums and as result they had a rather slow death. I guess one of the reasons was that the forum wasn’t attractive or appealing to many of you so Punistick did his best to fulfil your needs. National forums serve a good purpose of building international relations through embassies which is a good tool to keep informed of e-world matters.
Congress has been using the in-game messaging feature which in my opinion after a few terms is very limited in terms of reaching a conclusion in a discussion. It is evident that most of the time I do not have a clear idea of what’s happening in the other thread as the messaging feature only allows 25 max in each thread. This is why national forums are useful for Congress discussions, proposals and helps minimise the rogue proposals that we’ve been seeing recently.
There has been debates that some people are against the use of third party tools such as IRC and forums. To be honest with you if we want to participate in any future super power alliances we need to use third party tools to maxmise our communication. I’ve played in many other games and had to rely on IRC to communicate with the rest of the gaming community. I suggest give it a try and you might just change your mind!
This is a step in the right direction and it will not fail if we work together to make it a success.

Already a member, should be a good tool to make congress more predictable and productive, just as long as the mod team remains apolitical and not to severe in its corrective actions
Aye which is why I rather have a team of 5 people from different parties to minimise politicial bickering.
what about a team of mods who are not in any political party? If you get people in parties to mod you know they are political, so maybe it would be better to get people who have proven to not care about politics in Eire...
You make a good point. The nominees that have been given so far have put Ireland's interest first so I will experiment with this for a while.

I still can not get the forum to load. It has timed out every time I try. Every other site works fine. Any thoughts?

Yeee. I asked this question when I first came back to the game and was told how pointless forums are. Just weeks later, we have one. 🙂
Forums are pointless.
There will not be enough traffic on them, and making the forums an important part of the community, will alienate and disenfranchise most players. This will end badly... again.

Using forums and IRC is what makes the difference between strong and weak countries. If you don't wanna use it, you can at least encourage them.
I'm not top user, I just go there once or twice per day and check what's up.

So its free to assume Clerics will be mods of that forum since Clerics are the only one tgat put Ireland before anything and also finds all parties in ireland more or less corrupted spawns of SATAN!
Part of what retains players in any game, is playing with friends, or making new friends to play with. A forum is a very good step towards good communication between people, and will help retain not only new players, but also keep us old folk chatting too.
