Notice from the Minister of Defence

Day 598, 15:53 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Department of Defence

Dear Soldiers and Citizens,

I am in the middle of writing a more detailed introduction to myself and my plans as Minister of Defence, but world affairs insist that I make a brief statement concerning certain events.

Hungary and the United Kingdom have gone to war.

Not really.

I spent hours last night figuring this one out, after being prompted by the American MoD equivalent to observe that Sweden had invaded a Hungarian territory originally in Danish hands, Nordjylland. Having been in contact with a large number of people, including my opposite numbers in the USA, the UK, and certain big swinging mickies in PEACE GC command I believe there is no threat to Ireland.

Hungary and the UK have drawn up plans for Scotland to change hands in order to give the UK continuous wargames on their own terms, freeing them from our set in Rhode Island. These wars will last one month. Scotland does not border any Irish territories, so even if Hungary were planning to work their way across the Atlantic to attack the US they would not have to bother with us.

I congratulate certain COs of the IDF for noticing this circumstance and voicing their legitimate concerns to me immediately. Luckily, I had already got my trousers on, so no harm done there! Keep up the good work!

Hungary and the UK are close friends who have been on opposite sides of alliance strife for a very long time, their friendship, and these wargames should not be interpreted as a threat to Ireland in any form.

Much Love

Aran Tal
Minister of Defence
