Noob Nuse 3 - Should I buy a weapon? What Quality should I buy?

Day 671, 12:22 Published in USA USA by MollyMock

First, understand that when you fight, your
Weapon disappears. You are really buying ammo
For your weapon. Let's look at what increase you
Get for each Quality level of weapon:

- Quality 1 +20% Damage
- Quality 2 +40% Damage
- Quality 3 +60% Damage
- Quality 4 +80% Damage
- Quality 5 +100% Damage

Hey, that looks simple, right?
So a Q2 weapon does twice as much as a Q1 right?
Wrong. Let's take a quick look at the formula for
damage

Damage = Q × R × S × W × 2

Q: the quality of the soldier's weapon factor:
If the soldier has a weapon, then Q = 1 + (Quality ÷ 5)
If the soldier has no weapon, then Q = 1/2
R: the soldier's rank factor (1 + (Rank ÷ 5))
S: the soldier's strength
W: the soldier's wellness factor (W = 1 + [Wellness - 25] ÷ 100)

Note those caveats on the Quality Factor. If you have
NO weapon you can only do 50% damage. With a Q1 you
Do 120% damage. Over double the "hand to hand" damage.
So given the opportunity, buy as many Q1 weapons as
You can afford first, one for each fight. AFTER you
Are doing that, you can start looking at higher weapons,
But they suck for the value. You get so much more bang
Per buck for Q1 weapons your really shouldn't even consider
Q2 weapons until you have plenty of cash for a special battle(Florida!). On the other hand 120% vs 50% is a huge increase in damage, and your rank is determined by how much damage you do
a fight, so start buying those Q1 weapons when you have some
spare cash.
