Non Sibi Sed Patriae - Defence and Foreign Policies

Obligatory theme music.

Dear Britain,

In a world of constant turmoil, with the threat of invasion on multiple fronts and the world of alliances in great instability, rarely has foreign and military affairs been so relevant as they are now. That which has been viewed as stable and certain for so long now faces extreme instability all the way down to it’s core. As a result of this, regardless of the victor in our elections, constant vigilance in foreign and military affairs will be an obligation for the coming government.
Only through competent diplomacy and and ever watchful eye on our military prospects will we be able to come through this as a stronger nation.

Our foreign and military departments have functioned very well this month, as such I will be looking to largely continue in their footsteps when it comes to everyday practice.
The occurrence of random events in eRepublik, however, makes it difficult to do any particular planning for these two departments, so attempting to form a strong set of policies for these departments is rather difficult.

× Due the constant threats on our nation by our neighbours as of late, I will be looking to increase cooperation with allies in order to safeguard our nation and her interests.

× I will be looking to continue the tradition of communicating with our military units through in game messages and our IRC channel #MoD, constantly keeping the core of our fighting forces up to date with priorities.

× The military updates we have seen from Minister of Defence Max Blue this past month have proven extremely satisfying, and as such I will be looking to keep such updates coming.

× Relation building is centred around getting the people of another nation appreciating us by promoting friendship between our nations not between governments but between people. With more British representation within the media and interaction sites such as IRC and Forums of foreign countries I believe that we can nurture steadfast relationships between nations, on a strong basis. This has been neglected recently, leading to our diplomatic situation being centred around temporary agreements between governments.

× In a world ravaged by constant war, one of the best methods to promote strong diplomatic relations is through the usage of our armed forces. When a nation we are allied with, or intend to build stronger relations with, are in need of assistance, we can make good use of British nationals being visible on allied battlefields. Through the display of for example images of our fighting force in articles, for example, we can display our loyalty and commitment to a country and from there bring much support to our table of negotiations.

× Whilst we see rather good representation on what is going on in the world in general, we see quite little representation of what the foreign ministry is actually doing. I want to shift focus from just blindly informing people of what’s happening to actually talking about what the ministry is doing. With increased awareness of the foreign ministry’s action we can begin to see more feedback on the situation from our population and from there build a strong foreign policy based on the interests of our people.

× I vow never to end a legitimate war except through defeating our enemies.

As of now, I will leave you with this quote:

"Never give in — never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." -Winston Churchill

Sincerely,
