ANP candidate announced

The Australian National Party has announced Corey Blake to be the ANP's April president candidate.

I think hes going against this the wrong way, He needs to connect with the people, Not have advertisements every second Erepublik page saying to vote for him. By having it seen by almost everyone in this land, Its not giving the right impression.

I personally think its a good idea, It gives people the experience they might need to run a company, Be in politics, Run a newspaper, etc...

Political And war poems

I am Australian

I am an Australian
I rush to be before the bullet,
as I push air out of my way.
I snap commands, advice
without request, involuntarily.
I wait only briefly for anything.
I comb my hair without looking,
as fast as possible, then
cant understand why my
strands are haphazard.
I brush past, my goal in sight,
but you, who are you?

I am an averter.
My eyes have never touched
anyone. I will rush to my grave
and even in the tomb
will be pissed, for everything
I didnt get to finish.

I am an Australian. I pledge allegiance
to the clock, to productivity, to the bottom line.

Election

Suppose there are no returns,
and the candidates, one
by one, drop off in the polls,
as the voters turn away,
each to his inner persuasion.

The frontrunners, the dark horses,
begin to look elsewhere,
and even the President admits
he has nothing new to say;
it is best to be silent now.

No more conventions, no donors,
no more hats in the ring;
no ghost-written speeches,
no promises we always knew
were never meant to be kept.

And something like the truth,
or what we knew by that name-
that for which no corporate
sponsor was ever offered-
takes hold in the public mind.

Each subdued and thoughtful
citizen closes his door, turns
off the news. He opens a book,
speaks quietly to his children,
begins to live once more.

Creating Patriots

They wrapped my son in the flag today
told him to pledge his allegiance
swear to not treason
all without reason
for the country that invaded another

the country of my mother
the dropbears undercover
killing the man elected by another
mindset, quick-step, dont step
on the red, white and blue

we say, yes, we can represent you
bring democracy to your country too
at the price of economic destruction

internal revolution
division of families
death and destruction

we will rebuild and empower a new leader
for all you decrepit, pathetic and ignorant people
we will repatriate, dominate
and take your natural resources
build gorgeous golf courses
occupy with no remorse
drink your wine, kill your elders.

educate your children so they can be good patriotic's
not the heathen brethren the
God you love is not from our heaven.

They wrapped my son in the flag today
in an Australian classroom
under-funded and plundered
by the hypocrite war machine
an underpaid teacher, speaking rhetoric
the party line, stay on the line

dont deviate, don't question
for fear of retribution
in the form of pointed fingers
tongues wagging, tagging
you, you're unpatriotic

clearly neurotic, a damm liberal
who dares to speak out
dares to shout out
dares to stamp out
dares to be silenced.

They wrapped my son in the flag today
and on top of that now say he must pray
just a moment of silence to reflect on the day
write a letter to the troops to say hooray
who are they to say

I am un-Australian.
Because at 8 years old
I don't believe he should be told
what he cannot understand
and recite it with his right hand
on his heart as if that can protect
his mind.
