Welcome to Bull Frog Weapons (BFW)!

Thank you for choosing BFW as your employer!

Making lots of money is something that we all want. Therefore, helping our employees become knowledgeable, productive workers is in the company's best interest. Developing a relationship that fosters loyalty and trust pays dividends both ways. Thus, the purpose of this article.

First of all, look for a friend request from Lilypads INC, BFW's parent organization. This just makes it easier to send messages and donations. Please accept the request. You can always cancel the friend later if for some reason you want too (let's hope not! 🙂 )

Also I would like to get the hard nose stuff over with. This company is about making money, and no one makes any money if the employees don't work. You will be expected to raise your wellness, and to work everyday. This isn't really as bad as it sounds, since this will actually benefit you more than it will the company. Raising your wellness is discussed in detail below, but you should know that every time you work 30 days in a row, you are awarded 5 gold as a Hard Worker reward.

An employee slot that is held by an lackadaisical worker prevents BFW from finding a better worker, and thus is to be avoided. There are exceptions, of course.

Maybe you are going on vacation in Real Life (RL) and won't be near a computer for a couple of weeks. A period of time with no productivity is OK if it is known ahead of time and a refreshed employee comes back energized.

Maybe at some point you will join your nation's military and get deployed either in RL or eLife. BFW fully supports the efforts of the nation's military, and will totally support you. We will happily fire you... no let's call it give you a hiatus so you can deploy with the troops. Your job will be waiting for you when you get back.

All that is asked is that you PM Lilypads INC, and give us advance warning of your needs. However, when you give us no notification of what is going on, it's a different matter altogether.

So official policy is:
1) You don't work three days in a row with no prior contact, an attempt will be made to contact you and determine why. If there is no response to the PM within two more days (for a grand total of five days of no contact), or if the explanation is unsatisfactory, your employment will be terminated.
2) Your wellness isn't maintained at high levels (90+), rising towards high levels, or even worse drops, you will be contacted and offered guidance and help. If there is no satisfactory progress, your employment will be terminated.
3) Your actions are deemed to be counter-productive to the fiscal health of the company, your employment will be terminated.

These policies are a guideline and are not binding or arbitrary, management has the right to make or reverse any decision needed to make BFW profitable.

Whew! Glad that's out of the way.

Your Daily Routine
1 WORK!!!! (You should work with the highest wellness you can to get the most productivity.)
2 Train
3 Check inventory to make sure you have food.
4 Check your inbox and alerts
5 Check news and subscriptions

Wellness
Probably the most important aspect of eLife is WELLNESS. Wellness affects just about everything in eRepublic; status, fighting, and (in our case the primary concern) productivity to name a few. People judge an eRep player by how high their wellness is, more experience players keep their wellness high. I'm sure you can understand that a high wellness means more damage when you fight in a battle. And lastly, a worker with a 100 wellness produces almost twice as much per day as a worker with a 50 wellness. More production for the company = more pay for the workers!

You may have noticed that working and training decreased your wellness by one and now you're probably wondering just how you get your Wellness up. You must have food in your inventory at eRep midnight. If you don't your wellness goes down by a substantial amount, depending on your current wellness. On the bright side, if you do have food in your inventory, your health increases. The amount your wellness goes up depends on a number of variables; i.e. your current wellness, whether you have a house and it's quality, and the quality of the food in your inventory. Big Brother's Wellness Gain Calculator does the math for you!

Gifts
Another way of raising wellness it through gifts! You are allowed to raise 10 points of wellness per day utilizing gifts. Each point of quality of the gift will raise one point of wellness. A Q1 gift raises your wellness by 1 point, a Q2 gift raises your wellness by 2 points, etc. You can purchase gifts at the marketplace.

The catch is that you can't raise your own wellness with a gift, only someone else's. There are ways of getting around this, however. You may have already heard of gifting partner. This is basically someone who you can donate gifts too, and they then in turn apply them to you. You would do the same for them.

Lilypads INC would be happy to perform this function for you. Any gifts you donate to Lilypads INC will be gifted back to you at the first opportunity. If you choose to use Lilypads INC as a gifting partner, be sure to PM Lilypads INC when you donate your gifts, so I can return them to you ASAP.

Working
Going to the My places --> Company page will take you to your company page. Here you advised on whether you have worked that day, and if not, you can work. Clicking on the "Show all employees" button will also allow you to see your current wage, if you have forgotten.

BFW will monitor your skill level, and as you progress, will give you appropriate raises. If you are considering another offer, please contact Lilypads INC, and give us the opportunity to retain you. Good employees are the true value of a company and we don't want to lose you.

One gotcha to be aware of is that the higher the quality level of the company you work for, the larger decrease to your wellness. Working at a Q1 company decreases your wellness by one, but working at a Q2 company decreases wellness by 2! Q3 = 3, Q4 = 4, and Q5 naturally means a 5 point decrease in wellness. So although working for higher quality companies generally means a higher wage, you have to balance that with the increased cost of the higher quality food you will need to buy in order to maintain your wellness. As a rule of thumb, especially without a house, you will end up with more money in your pocket working for a Q1 company and only buying Q1 food, then you would working for a Q2 company but having to buy Q3 food to make up for the extra point of wellness decrease.

Food
As discussed earlier, the game checks your inventory every midnight eRep time, and determines if you have any food. If you do not have any food, you loose 4 wellness points. If you do possess food, the game will use the highest quality food in your inventory and your house (if you have one) to calculate your wellness gain. The quality level of your food is not a one-to-one ratio like gifts are. Food and houses are more beneficial at lower wellness levels. Having a Q1 house and Q1 food at 25 wellness gives you a 2.5 wellness gain, but only 1.2 points at wellness level 90.

You can play with Big Brother's Wellness Gain Calculator to see the effects of various starting wellness levels, food quality's, and house quality's.

Houses
Buying a house is a way of boosting your midnight wellness gain. The problem is that Houses are expensive, especially for those just starting out. You will probably not be able to afford even a Q1 house until you achieve the work 30 consecutive days Hard Worker award and receive the 5 gold reward. You can always purchase gold using real life money if you are impatient.

The quality of the house determines how much your wellness is raised, although it is not a one-to-one ratio like gifts are.

Where to live? One of the first inclinations every new eRepublic player has is to live in the region they actually live in in real life. Unfortunately, eRep is not real life, and there are certain other factors that should determine where you live. The good news is that you can change your location, it just costs money and a wellness decrease. You have to buy a moving ticket at the marketplace. Higher quality tickets mean a smaller wellness decrease.

It is possible to move to a foreign country. You have to be unemployed, and you can't belong to a political party. There is also the fact that your destination country cannot be at war with your departure country. You can get around this by buying two tickets and making an intermediate stop in some country that is neutral to both.

The major thing you want to look for is a region with a high quality hospital. The reason for this is that every quality point of the hospital will raise your wellness 10 points when you heal after fighting! Thus, a Q2 hospital will raise your wellness 20 points, and a Q5 hospital will raise it a massive 50 points! See the section below that describes fighting for more details about taking advantage of the hospital to increase and maintain wellness.

If you are a non-violent type of individual, a secondary criteria for selecting your location would be the resources available in the region. This is extremely important if you start a company, but usually by then you will have an organization, and it is better to start a company with an organization than with your main account. If you start the company using your main account, it becomes the company's General Manager, the game considers that your job, and you can't work somewhere else.

eGobba's Map is where you want to go to get details about regions. There is other information about alliances, wars, population, etc., as well.

Military and Fighting
The first point to make is that this is a game, not real life. This means that even though we all could agree that violence is something to be avoided if at all possible, this isn't necessarily the case in eRepublic. Fighting is the key to maintaining a high wellness.

Training is the only way to raise your strength. Strength is one of the factors influencing the amount of damage you do, so a high strength is desirable. Unfortunately, training also causes your wellness to decrease by one.

To participate in a battle, you must have reached level 5, have a wellness > 40 and your country or one of it's allies has to be in a war. When you select My places --> Army there is a "Show active wars" button near the bottom. This brings up a list of active wars the world round, which you can filter using the three buttons under the title "Wars". Use the right button to filter for your country. Each line represents a War, and will indicate if there are active battles. If there is a war with an active battle you can click on the "details" button to be taken to the corresponding "War" info screen. This will show all the battles for that war, and you can click on the "Go to Battlefield" button to enter a specific battle. A battle last for 24 hours, although there are special circumstances such as the president of the country authorizing a retreat, that will allow a battle to end earlier.

Each region has a value, commonly referred to as a wall, that is dependent on population, and defense system. This value is the "Defense value" listed in the info box when you hover your cursor over a region on eGobba's Map.

Every time you fight you lose 10 wellness!

Once you are in the battlefield screen, you see a graphic representation of the Defense value. The Defense value is divided into regions, but the only important ones are admin center and underground. In a nutshell, if at the end of the battle's 24 hour period, the running point total is negative, underground, the aggressors win. If the point total is positive, admin center or higher, the defenders win.

Every time you fight you lose 10 wellness!

Now you are ready to actually fight. Are you feeling a little nervous? You click on the appropriate button and an amount of damage dependent on wellness, whether you have a weapon and it's quality, your strength, and your rank is generated. This damage is applied to the wall, either subtracting from it if you are the aggressor or added to the wall if you are defending. You are taken to a screen which show the amount of your "Total damage" and the values used to determine that damage, your experience gain, your new wellness level, and your progress towards advancing in rank. Do not click on any buttons on this screen unless you are sure what will happen.

Every time you fight you lose 10 wellness!

At the bottom of the screen are three buttons, "Back to battlefield", "Fight Again", and "Buy Wellness Box". Wellness Boxes cost 2 Gold and generally are only used by Tanks. "Fight Again" will repeat your fight (your total damage will decrease due to your lower wellness). Back to battlefield" returns you to the battlefield screen where you can navigate to the hospital.

Every time you fight you lose 10 wellness!

By now hopefully you have picked up on the fact that fighting causes a significant wellness decrease. This is probably causing you to wonder why fighting is the key to maintaining a high wellness. The reason is healing at the hospital.

This is also why you pick a region to live in that has a high quality hospital. If you fight in a battle, you are able to use your region's hospital to heal ONE TIME. Repeat ONE TIME. It doesn't matter whether you fight once or thirty times, you can use the hospital once per day.

For our example, let's say you live in a region with a Q3 hospital and have a strength of 2.9. You start with a 48 wellness. You fight one time. You cause 5 points of damage, but your wellness is lowered to 38 so you can't fight any more. You heal at the hospital, and your wellness level is now 68.

The next day, you work, lowering your wellness to 67. Then you train and raise your strength to 3.0, but your wellness drops to 66. You fight once again. and cause 6 points of damage. Your wellness is now 56. You stop fighting and heal at the hospital once more, raising your wellness to 86.

Third day, same routine. Work, wellness is 85. You train raising your strength to 3.05 while lowering wellness to 84. Now when you fight, you still cause 6 points of damage, and your wellness becomes 74, Heal at the hospital, and your wellness is 100!

A Q5 hospital gives even better results, of course. Once you achieve the high wellness, you can fight multiple times. Every fight gives you 2 experience points, so raising your level is a lot quicker. Remember you can only use the hospital once per day, so limit the number of fights to match the quality level of your hospital.

You may have noticed that the damage in our example was rather minuscule. Weapons can boost this value significantly, but mostly you have to persevere and build experience. Play with Big Brother's Battle Damage Calculator to see how the different factors modify your might!

Most country's conduct war games which greatly facilitate this process. War games are a Resistance War that is agreed to by both sides beforehand. It allows each nations users to build up their wellness, and to gain both experience and rank without all the messiness that accompanies a real war. Usually someone high up in your countries administration or military will have a newspaper article that will talk about planned war games.

Rank
Your rank is determined by the total number of Damage Points you have Inflicted. Keep in mind this rank is only the factor used in determining the damage you inflict when you fight. Most military's have their own rank systems that have to do with the job you perform, i.e. basic grunt in a platoon would be a private, platoon leader's assistant might be sergeant, platoon leader might be lieutenant, company commander might be colonel, etc.

Politics and Political Partys
These topics are not even available to low level players, so we won't go into detail about them here.

Common Terms and Abbreviations
Abbreviations:
PM = Personal Message. eRep's mail system
PTO = Political Takeover, see below
RL = Real Life
RM = Raw Materials (Grain, Oil, Diamonds, Iron, Wood)
RW = Resistance War
TO = Take Over, see Political Takeover below

Terms:
pertamaxx = The first person to comment on an article. The first twenty people who comment on an article have their comment shown on the articles page without having to navigate to a secondary page. Thus these comments are generally the only comments seen by a causal reader.
Political Takeover = Aggressor country's will often flood smaller countries with citizens to take them over non-militarily. The immigrant citizens will either form new political parties or join existing ones and take them over from within. This will allow eventual election of congress members and country president who will then act in the best interests of the aggressor country, most damaging of which would be to surrender regions in battle.
Tanks = Tanks are very experienced eRep players that have specialized in military matters. They have built up their strength and rank to very high levels and can generate tens of thousands of points in a battle. They generally do not have jobs or belong to political parties so they can go where the action is. eGovernments will often finance their needs, as they use large amounts of high quality weapons and wellness paks.
Troll/Trolling = Trolling is using media to stir up trouble, i.e. publishing articles with misleading information, posting inflammatory comments on other people's article, etc. Basically, you are stirring up trouble just to get a reaction. Not one of the more pleasant aspects of eRep.
wall = The Defense value for a region. It depends on the regions population (POP), whether it has a defense system and if so the quality of the said defense system (DSQ).
Defense value = 100 * POP * (1 + DFQ/10)
