New Training Feature is Dead On Arrival!!!
Preston Sage
Personal Trainers in eRepublik….EPIC FAIL!!!
I guess that the eRepublik admins decided that this was the best time to show their true colors. This was the best time to finally reveal what their bottom line was…that all mighty dollar. It’s not like people weren’t already dumping boat loads of cash into this game. No…that wasn’t enough. They added a feature to the training module that will make us have to pay gold to get stronger than we normally would. They didn’t even stop to think just how bad an idea that was. It’s not like certain countries and players weren’t already at an disadvantage. Now you are trying to alienate the one’s who are not as fortunate financially as a chosen few that are able to put a decent amount of money into the game. This new feature will be the downfall of eRepublik without question. I’ll give you two reasons why.
Reason one is that the older players are going to be pretty pissed off that Joe New Guy can come into the game and catch up to them in terms of strength in a very short while. If he spends money of course. If I were a guy that had been around the game for a year or two, I would be irate over this. This is in no way, shape, or form fair. I have only been apart of the eRepublik family for close to one hundred days, and it would piss me off if some guy joined tomorrow and was able to get just as strong as I was quickly because he put a ton of money into the game. I think that the new training feature cheapens the whole experience of eRepublik. Everything shouldn’t always be about money. The older guys are going to think that their efforts were for nothing, and they are going to find something else to take up their spare time. They will be spending their money somewhere other than eRepublik. With the older guys gone, the game itself will most likely go down the toilet.
Another reason is that what if the older guys…especially the one’s with money to spare…say screw it. I’m going to dump a ton of cash into the new training feature and make myself invincible. Say if a country full of people that have been with this game a long does something like that? Hungary comes to mind. Talk about world domination. They wouldn’t even need an alliance most likely. They would be a one man army. I don’t think that I would like to live in a place called the eUnited States of Hungary. No way, no how. If a country like eHungary, eRussia, or even the eUSA were to do something like that, all the fun would be sucked out of the game. I’m sure that after the new super powers finished conquering the world, that even they would get bored and find something else to do. Spending their money somewhere other than eRepublik.
So do yourselves a huge favor admins…get rid of the new training feature. It makes absolutely no sense to even have it included in the game, with its sole purpose being to add a few dollars into the games creators pockets. I understand that besides a game, that this is a source of income for someone. You have to make smart business decisions though. Trying to get more money from people during a worldwide recession is not that wise of a business move. So think about what you are doing admins before you kill the game, and we start spending our money somewhere other than eRepublik. Hmm….I notice a trend here.

You've got it backwards. Old people will pull away even further from new guys. People with 13 skill are making 1+G a day in salary, plus they probably have companies that make profit. They can probably train each day with what they are doing now in game. Meanwhile, new guy is struggling for every penny and is faced with spending large amounts of RL money to keep up with the joneses.
Wow...I never knew that they were making that much. Puts the newer guys at a huge disadvantage.

Preston- Rant about the merits of the idea all you want, but to say that UP UNTIL NOW we thought the admins were putting this game out because they love us is silly. OF COURSE they are interested in making money, its a business for them. The profit motive ISN'T evil.
I never said that profit is evil. Profit is always a good thing in my book. What I am saying is that in these economic times, trying to get people to shell out more dough than they can is not good business.
I just got laid off a couple of weeks ago(second time inside a year that has happened to me), and while I can spend some money on the game to purchase gold, I can't spend a lot of it to try and keep up with the big spenders on this game. I am sure that the majority of people that play this game feel the same way as I do. Alienating a large percentage of your consumer base to appease a smaller percentage of it is not a good way to conduct business. Not by any means.
I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!
