New Term, Brand New Eyes

Day 1,010, 20:15 Published in South Korea New Zealand by leiwahara

First and foremost, I would like express my thanks to those of you who have placed your trust in me and given me this wonderful opportunity to serve Chungcheongbuk-do as her Congresswoman. I am eternally grateful to be a part of this community and I am very much looking forward to all of the new and bright things that are in store for eSouth Korea and I am flattered you have entrusted me to be a part of the experience.

With each and every one of your Congressmen and women settling into their seats, you have probably noticed a large collection of proposals that have been made. I would like to take a minute to cover some of these, what they mean, and what it would mean for eSouth Korea if they were implemented.

Minimum Wage Change

Alfagrem has proposed to increase the minimum wage from .1KRW to .15KRW. While this may not look like much of an increase, it would actually mean quite a good deal to new citizens, who often find themselves struggling immensely right off the bat. We all know how hard it can be as a new citizen, surviving on meager food and struggling to find a proper job in the economy. It is for this reason that I have chosen to vote in favor of this change. It is small, but effective. It is also something that our nation would be able to afford. I support this proposal.

Tax Changes regarding Materials

There have been several proposals to change the taxes regarding materials such as stone, titanium, and grain. While two of the three proposals show no significant change from current settings, there is a change proposed by Demigod_mk to lower the income tax on grain from the current 10% to a new 1%. At the publishing time of this article, the votes are split rather evenly, with 11 (Yes) Votes to 18 (No) Votes.

Demigod_mk on the purpose of his proposal:
"At the moment grain is a profitable business, Korea is a country that has olny 2 open wars and becuase of that can trade with both alliances(This inclides no grain countrys like Sweden, greece,Chile and also the low immport tax markets China and Russia). Also Korea`s company`s pay very high wages .I wanted to lower the tax so investors can come in.And make Korea at least a small grain hub."

New Citizen Fee

KuzMann has proposed an increase to the new citizenship fee from its current (5.0KRW) to a new (5.01). While it is a very small increase, it would mean an extra 1KRW income off of citizen fees for every 100 citizens. Due to the relatively small flow of citizens expected to come into the country, it is a bit unnecessary for the time being. No Debate Area has been provided, so, again, I am unable to provide much information at the time. However, I have voted no to this proposal, as I do not feel that it would be necessary at this given time.

Unfortunately, this new slew of requested changes is not with out its overly expected embarrassment of proposals from Carlos Bianchi. Although they come as a surprise to no one (as they are all stunts our resident troll has attempted many times in the past), it is nonetheless a thorn in our collective backsides.

Impeachment of President Grease

This is not the first time that Carlos has proposed to impeach a President based only on the fact that it "is not him". Grease, much like his predecessor, has proven to be an exceptional leader of eSouth Korea, and this proposal simply boils down to an envious grudge held by an individual that more than lacks in leadership capabilities. I have voted no to this proposal.

Donation to Fundacao Celio Azevedo

Again, this is nothing your Congress and veteran members are surprised to see, even though Bianchi very blatantly stated that, if he were elected to Congress, he would not propose to have President Grease impeached, no would he propose a donation from the national bank to his own, personal organization. In both of these instances, the only votes Carlos has received in favor are his own. I have voted no to this proposal.

Now, with the list of proposals taken care of, I would like to announce the creation of an organization that I have funded out-of-pocket that I believe will aid in encouraging our newest of citizens in continuing to explore the game, which can seem perplexing and uninteresting at the start.

BRAND NEW EYES is a creation of mine that I hope to utilize in the follow ways:

- Sending personalized messages to each new citizen apart from the standard greeting.

- Encouraging new citizens to introduce themselves in as little as a sentence or as much as a paragraph or two, which I will then publish in the BRAND NEW EYES news publication, so that our newest members do not have to struggle through 11 levels of uninteresting "point-and-clicking" in order to found a newspaper. They may publish through BRAND NEW EYES for as long as they wish, even after passing the level 11 requirement for establishing a news paper.

- Working with the Ministry of Health to provide new citizens with food provisions and health supplies.

- Encouraging new and active citizens who are interested in running for Congress and other political positions by providing them with exposure to the community from the very beginning.

BRAND NEW EYES will be funded entirely by myself, with no proposals to Congress to siphon funds from the national banks. I, like many new players, was fortunate to have the vast amount of support and aid from veteran players, which in turn kept me playing the game instead of opting out at the first sign of struggle and lack of interaction. I hope to see another great Baby Boom in eSouth Korea, and I believe in that in order to do so, we need to encourage our newest players to become involved.

That concludes this article. Any questions/comments/suggestions are welcome, as well as any individuals who would like to volunteer their time to BRAND NEW EYES. If you are a new member wishing to utilize BRAND NEW EYES to publish articles, please contact Leiwahara.

Sincerely,
Leiwahara
