New Player Guide

Day 596, 08:30 Published in Germany Belgium by Konrad Neumann

I been living here in eGermany for a week and it seems to be that there are not many new player guides. So to remedy this situation, I wrote one based on the excellent guide that my friend Mr Wordy in eUK wrote.

German Version can be found here.

New Player Guide.

Being new in this game is a daunting time as there are so many things you need to know. I hope this guide will aid new players and make their experience with this game easier and more entertaining.

Get a Job

The first thing all new players should do is to get a job. Jobs allow you to earn money in which you can buy food and other items that will increase your wellness (health). We will talk about wellness later. To get a job, you need to go to the Market tab and click on Job Market. There are 3 kinds of job skills, manufacturing, land, and construction. Chose one sector and every time you work, it will increase your skill in that sector. To work, just go to the My Places tab and click company. This will direct you to the company page and click work to work. You will lose wellness based on the quality of goods the company produces. So if a company produce Q1 products, you will lose 1 wellness and so on. If you work 30 days in a row, you will get a Hard Workers Medal and 5 gold which can be converted to cash. Working also gives you experience points which allows you to advance in level.

Now I Have Some Money, It is Time to go Shopping!

You need food to maintain or grow your wellness (health). Go to the Market tab and click on the Marketplace tab. There you can buy many different items; however, new players should only focus on food. All items have 5 different qualities. Quality 1 (Q1) is the lowest quality and Q5 is the highest. You need food everyday or you will lose health and when your wellness reaches zero, you are dead.

Training

You can train for the military everyday by going to the My Place Tab and click Army. There you can train at the expense of 1 wellness. The benefits of training everyday is that you can gain experience points quickly. Also training allows you to gain strength every time allowing you to do more damage and gain military rank quicker.

Gaining Wellness and the Military

Besides buying food, the easiest way to gain wellness is to fight in wars (assuming our country is in a war.) Move to a province with a high quality hospital, Q5 hospital like in Saarland. Fighting each time cost you 10 wellness. However after you finish fighting, go and visit your hospital in your province and you will gain wellness back. So if you are in a Q5 province, you will gain 50 wellness, Q4 hospital 40 wellness and so on. Make sure you are in a province with a hospital or will gain no wellness back.

To make sure you are in a province with a good hospital, click on the German flag under your avatar. You should be in the German country page. Select the place of your resident and you should see the quality of the hospital at that location. If it does not have a hospital, you should move to a location that does.

So it is smart for new players to use method to gain wellness. Most new players are around 40-60 wellness and if you live in a province with a Q5 hospital you should do the following. Let say your wellness is 48. Fight 1 times so you will lose 20 wellness making your wellness 38. Go to your hospital and gain 50 wellness making your wellness to be 88. The next day fight 4 until your wellness is 48. Go to your hospital again and gain 50 wellness making your wellness 98. With food, your wellness will hit 100 on the next day. Fighting also rewards you with 2 experience points which allow players to advance rank quickly.

To fight you must click on "Go to Battlefield" will show you the wall. If you on the attacking side, you want to see the area's be shaded red, if you are defending, you want to try and prevent this from happening. Clicking on "Fight" will add whatever damage you do to the defending or attacking side. Using a weapon makes a huge difference; a Q1 weapon will increase your damage by 20%, a Q2 by 40% and so on. Through the early stages of the game, you will only need Q1 weapons. Fighting with no weapon will decrease your damage by 50%. Your military rank influence your damage as well. The higher the rank, the more damage you do.

So why maintain such a high wellness? Maintaining a high wellness is very important in eRepublik. A player with high wellness has high productivity in their workplace which might gain you a increase in salary and it allows you to do more damage in fights. Therefore, high wellness allows players to advance easier and faster.

Moving Tickets

They can be purchase at the Marketplace. These are used to move to different regions, including ones in a different country. A higher quality means you lose less health when you move. If you want to fight in a war you can move to a country where there is an active battle. (Remember to get two so you can come back afterwards)

Gifting

Also purchased at the Marketplace. If you buy a gift, you can gift someone; if your gifted it increases your health slightly. If you need gifting most users are willing to do an exchange.

Newspaper

When you are level 8 you can make your own newspaper in which you can write about whatever you want. On the home page, you can read other people’s newspaper and see their perspective on issues, current events etc.
All Germans should read subscribe governmental newspapers as it gives valuable and important information.

The Der Bundesanzeiger newspaper is from the Bundeskanzleramt which the president writes in.

A good player should read newspapers and keep current with current events so they can influence politics, better prepare and have better discussions on issues that are affecting everyone.

Political Party

When you reach level 7 you can join a political party. Joining a political party is one of the best aspect of the game as you can meet new people with similar ideas and work together to enrich and better the country and the nation. Players who have political ambitions should join a party since working with a party will increase your chances to gain a political office, the presidency or congress.

Vote! Vote! Vote!

Voting is one of the easiest way to gain experience points. Every time you vote rewards you with 1 experience point. Also voting in election is a method in which players can shape and influence the government and the country. Therefore, voting gains you an experience point as well as electing a person who you have similar ideas, or can better serve your interest etc.

The 2 Offices

Congress – These people can put forward proposals and vote on anything that has been proposed.

President – The executive branch; they make key decisions and can propose new laws and declare wars.

Join the National Forum

All players regardless of being new or old should join the national forum. This is where the political party forums are as well governmental organizations are located. The forum has the most up to date news and information. This is the place you can read congressional debates important discussions. The forum also have important links which new players should use.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.
