Several recent changes to eRepublik are reported to have upset long time players and left everyone wondering, “exactly what is going on?”

People love to complain, and no one likes change; yet players are now forced to seriously question the direction that this game is going in. Happiness was removed from the stat system today, and many market products are being simplified to affecting only the now few player stats. In addition, players are complaining that this throws the economic and business aspects of the game into turmoil.

Recent changes, in combination with the changes to the combat system, have drastically changed the game. It would appear that eRepublik is being simplified and streamlined. This is probably contrary to the interests of the majority of players, who enjoy the depth and detail of the game.

Another common concern has been the perception that the game is now ignoring players who don’t use credit cards, and devaluing the work of “free” players. Many players say that they have experienced theft of their gold/currency, and that players who use credit cards have a disproportionate advantage against those who, though they don’t pay for their gold, have committed a lot of time, thought, and skill into playing the game.

Many users are actually leaving the game, effectively putting their citizens on hunger strike permanently. Some users are leaving out of general dissatisfaction with the changes being made, while notably, masses of "eGreeks" are leaving due to a perceived lack of respect for their national identity, as demonstrate by the editing of the Macedonian territories (the Republic of Macedonia (FYROY) controversy)

After Serbia lost to China in a very large and controversial battle, newspaper “Dr. Kadzija” had an article by Serbian user “Clueless” which was name “Thank you.” And could be accessed through advertisments featuring male genitalia and the caption “Message for Admins: BLOW ME!”. The article was about Clueless’s dissatisfaction with the changes to the game, their apparent biases, and the affects they had inflicted on eSerbia. This seems to be one peak of the wave of dissatisfaction which has been sweeping the entire eRepublik world.

A worry is that these changes will destroy the user base, by alienating free user patrons, and giving credit card holders free reign to go Godzilla on the world that was created by a very unique and special game population.
