Nebula - a cloud of dust, oppression & corruption

Day 2,816, 02:58 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by NoTie112
Dear readers,

I wanted to inform you on the recent approach to Nebula. This will be a semi-official statement (hence being posted in my private newspaper) based on both the last government's sentiments and my observations of Nebula.

Some willing officials of Nebula contacted us already in June - during the government term of Kordak - when we were attacked by Germany. Naturally, we appreciated any help we could get and were surprised to find an ally like Nebula in such a dark hour. Some nations (but absolutely not all) and some officials began to push us more and more and consequently we decided in July to start approaching Nebula for official entry. Nebula seemed like the perfect fit for us at that moment (but in hindsight obviously not); it was a nation of equals where we'd amount to something (would-be one of the strongest nations in Nebula) and where we could have some influence and therefore fun, strategy and activity.

Obviously we already had some concerns about the state of internal organisation of Nebula. But we never expected to be in the strange and chaotic ride that followed in the months afterwards. We've seen many questionable actions being taken (senseless airstrikes), we've seen SGs being banned for multi usage or just dissapearing, leaving Nebula often without any representation. We've seen heavy publicized criticism of Nebula nations/officials, which were consequently forced to remove their contents by Nebula HQ. We've peeked and saw some specific nations (and more specifically their officials) in Nebula corrupting the entire thing with their powerplays, backstabbings and ego-thumping. We've heard and seen derogatory and often insulting terms and actions being used against us, which we do not deserve as an equal nation.

In the end, it took 2 full months before any concrete discussion and vote was taken on our application. We never received any formal word how that ended, despite it being taken one full week ago. However, we've already taken our own conclusion: Joining Nebula is not an option at this moment and won't be unless some things radically change in that very alliance. In their grab for not-to-be-found prestige, some nations (specifically their officials in Nebula) are vetoing our entry; but most importantly they've been vetoing the entire alliance from functioning for months. I'm not explicitly going to name the obvious culprits, but I'm sure most of us are very aware of whom we are talking here. I ask the current responsible leadership: How much more refusals, scandals and oppression of internal citizens/officials does it require to realize you're essentially fast-forwarding the collapse of Nebula?

However, not all is negative. Since our approach to Nebula we've made tremendous improvements in our general geopolitical situation and we couldn't achieve that without the help of our friends in Nebula. Nations (and citizens of) like Norway, the Czech Republic & Australia shouldn't feel attacked by this honest article at all, as we found them frequently to be on our side regarding our conflicts with(in) Nebula. We will see you again soon in the future and we will keep close! When elements like those - wanting genuine and fair alliance mechanics to function on a long-term base - are being oppressed, all hope is indeed lost.

Kind regards,

Former President & Minister of Foreign Affairs,
