Nebraska, My Heart

Day 2,235, 16:34 Published in USA USA by Disco Musolini

We have seen the commendable initiatives from my Congressional colleagues Hale26 and Uncle Shylock adopting territories for the duration of the 73rd Congress. Unlike them, I am not a greedy man. My entire political existence in this New World has been centered around one special state. Others may deride it as flyover country or common, but Nebraska is where I fly to; it is a shining golden gem.

The fertile land of Nebraska provides the eUSA with some of the finest Grain available; supporting the food sector of our economy. While it seems people don’t want to give Nebraska the respect it deserves, but rumor has it that if not for some deft political maneuvering Nebraska would be our capital today. Few can argue that it is about as close to the heart of the eUSA that a state can be.

So, shortly after publishing this article, I will be gathering a list of all those eUSA citizens who hold Nebraska as dear to their hearts as I do. I want to connect with all the citizens who choose to reside in this great state. I hope to keep them abreast of the goings-on in Congress and the eUSA. I’d like to make myself available to help where I can and hopefully these fellow Cornhuskers and I will show the rest of the eUSA why Nebraska is so great!

Also, here is a brief and unordered rundown of my Congress experience so far this month; things have sure been busy! You can follow the action in the Legislative Branch on the eUSA Forums.

-I signed in on time, twice!
I was under the impression that Weekly Sign-in is on Monday, but it could be any day of the week and I'd still be all over it!

-I voted Yea on the budget.
The MPP and USAF budget lines likely won’t be using their entire budgeted amounts, so the remainder will go to building the reserve. With Weapons prices so high, it seems that the Irish Rental Agreement is paying off very nicely.

-I voted for dmjohnston as Speaker of the House.
dmjohnston is an old friend of mine from my early days in the US Training Corps. Nevertheless, I was happy with all of the candidates (AlexJ1890 & Kortanul) and pleased with our ultimate choice.

-I took a stab at rewriting language for Speaker selection
There’s been interest in Instant Runoff Voting, so that should be fun to write.(UPDATE: I did it!) New, clearer language should help prevent any of the confusion that has happened the past couple of Speaker elections

-I voted Abstain in the Repeal of State’s Rights
I didn’t have strong feelings that the legislation needed to be repealed, as I don’t think it prevented the RP desires of the current Congress and it memorialized the RP desires of a previous Congress.

-I voted Yea to Congressional Citizen Awards for Publius and George Armstrong Custer
Unfortunately the award for Custer didn't pass due to the high Quorum and holiday season. Hopefully he'll get another shot at a vote.

-Submitted a recommendation in the discussion of the Splitting of Georgia act that was ultimately locked.
This was pretty lulzy, but I'm a big fan of the map I made.

I hope the New Year is treating you all well and want to give a final plug for We The People's Feed The World Program. Any eUSA citizen can sign up and after commenting on the latest DoD Orders you'll receive some delicious foods from Mazzy Cat's nom factory.
