Eljátszott esélyek...

Előszedtem egy régi cikkemet, amiben Németország felszabadításáról írtam. Mi is segítettünk nekik, az egész PEACE ott volt, harcolt, segített, hogy megint önálló állam legyenek. Emlékszem a pici viszolygásra, amit akkor legyűrtem, mert az ember adjon még egy esélyt, meg legyen jóindulatú, meg minden. Mégis ott volt a dolog, ha nem is minket, de mást elárultak már egyszer, és bizony ez otthagyja a nyomát egy nemzet jellemén. De mindegy, fel lettek szabadítva, hiszen minden ország megérdemli, hogy létezhessen a térképen...

Még a következő kezdeményezés is jónak tűnt - ha erőtlennek is - az ESA megalkotása, egy európai szövetség létrehozása, az európai diplomácia megerősítése. Csak azután kezdtek elromlani a dolgok. Az erőltetett egyesülés, mondhatni Ausztria bekebelezése, és az azzal kapcsolatos ügyek. Magyarország fenyegetése és Burgenland ügye - ahol ők nem bíztak meg bennünk és emiatt jártak pórul, holott eközben már az atlantisszal tárgyaltak... és ezt ők ürügyként használták fel, hogy átálljanak az Atlantisba, elárulva a PEACE-t aki előzőleg a szabadsághoz segítette őket.

Nem változtak hát meg, maradtak köpönyegforgatóak, maradtak a két szövetség között lavírozóak, maradtak hűségesek senkihez, de törleszkedve mindenkihez... és most kezdenek rájönni, hogy hosszútávon bizony ez nem megy. Hosszútávon egy idő után mindenki megelégeli a köpönyegforgatókat, akik arra mennek, amerről a több hasznot látják. Németország most bajban van. Akik még hittek nekik azok elfogytak. Akiktől jóindulatot remélhettek, már csak kelletlenül állnak melléjük. A stratégiai pozíciójukat már egyre több ország nélkülük kezdi el számításba venni.

Németország addig játszott a tűzzel, amíg komoly veszélybe nem került, hogy megégetheti magát.

És én a magam részéről csak annyit tudok mondani, hogy megérdemlik.

Kaptak esélyt bőven, és eljátszották mindet.

Nem fognak többet kapni.

Past last chances...


I looked up one of my old articles, the one I wrote at the time of Germany's liberation. We had helped them at the time, the whole PEACE was there, fighting, helping, to have Germany as an independent country again. I do remember that small loathing that was at the back of my mind, and which I pushed out, for they did deserve another chance, for I should be benevolent and all that. It was still there, that they had betrayed somebody, not us, but still... it leaves a profound mark on a nation's character. But still, they were liberated, they got their chance to exist on the map...

And their next move was even considered positive - if weak - the founding of ESA, the strengthening of European ties and diplomacy. But after that things gone from bad to worse. The forced and hurried unification, or rather the conquest of Austria, and its attendant matters with us, their threats and false words to Hungary and the matter of Burgenland, where they did not trust us, and so they botched their plans as well as ours - and in the meanwhile they were already negotiating against us, betraying PEACE and going over to Atlantis.

And there they did not change either, as I hear, they remained forever turncoats, they still try to play off one against another, they remained untrustworthy, but still trying to appease everyone... and they now start to realize that in a long term this is not a good strategy, that after a while, turncoats will not be liked anywhere, and countries who go wherever they expect the more are not welcomed at all. Germany now is in trouble. Short is now the list of those who believe them still. Short is now the list that they can hope help from and it is grudgingly given. Their precious strategic position is one that more and more countries in Europe imagine in the future without the name of Germany written on the map.

Germany has played with the fire for long - and now it is in the danger of burning itself.

My opinion is that they deserve it.

They got plenty of chances and botched them all.

They will not get any more.
